Wow. I actually thought the monument was older...Never been.
Now he gets to meet his subjects in person.
You know they’re all going to have a great laugh together.
WOW! Condolences to family and friends of Nick Clifford. R.I.P., sir. Thanks. love Good thing he didn’t live to see its destruction. (It’s going to offend some collective some day)
RIP.
Having grown up in South Dakota I have visited Mt. Rushmore many times. Despite the kitschy and touristy stuff around the monument it is impressive and worth seeing. Visit at sunset when the monument is illuminated with a light show. There are often school groups singing during the ceremony too. The drive through Spearfish Canyon (Highway 85/14A) from Mt.Rushmore to Spearfish and the iconic Iron Mountain Road (Highway16) from Keystone are some of the most scenic routes in the country. Be sure to take these in if you are visiting the Black Hills.
We saw him in 2013.
“carver”
I hear the guy who carved George Washington made peanuts.
(See what I did there?)
The man was named for his mission!
RIP
I just saw him the end of May signing his book in the gift shop at Mt Rushmore.
I wonder who will be picked to carve President Trump’s likeness there.
Late last night (Sun.) I watched a 1-hour program on the Science channel that was about the Mt. Rushmore sculptures.
Very interesting, as it discussed the man’s early designs, revisions during the work due to geological faults, invention of methods needed, etc.
His grand daughter continued his work.
Can you imagine anyone carving a mountainside with images of white people today? Frankly, I’m surprised the cancel crowd has not sabotaged the site.
