I have long advocated and posted such that Trump should demand that the house democrats and republicans immediately impeach him so all the true facts can be brought out in a Senate Trial. The dems do not want impeachment but just this pseudo impeachment inquisition in the house just to “dirty up” Trump before the next election.

If Trump were impeached tomorrow, he wins.

Pelosi is beholden to the insane left of her party that truly does want impeachment. She must go along with this insanity or lose her post as Speaker of the House. If she does not do this she loses. If she does do this the whole democrat party loses. It would be a good time for her to just retire and drink chardonnay.

I’m okay with this. PDJT will get his day in court and he will destroy the people who have sought to destroy him.

Now you’ll get called a concern troll or worse for stating a legitimate, if improbable concern

Look on the bright side, with how bad the Republicans are destroying the impeachment show in the house when they are in charge of nothing, jist think how bad they can make the Dems look in the Senate where they can make the rules.

Why would anyone want it to be dismissed out of hand? It would be the greatest spectacle in American history. Our side gets to call witness and is in charge for once and we want to spike the ball immediately? I overheard two Mexican coworkers talking and they said that not only were they watching but they were having their kids watch because “it’s historic”. The lady in her late forties said, “I wasn’t around for Nixon, that was like twenty years ago.” Why throw away the chance to show all these MSM brainwashed morons who is really behind the curtain? With evidence and signatures and video and the whole nine yards.

The Senate can drag this out during the Democratic primaries and the Den Senators will have to attend the trial and not be able to campaign.

Trump has concluded he has more to gain politically from presenting a detailed defense at trial than from no trial at all,

Why not? Almost every commie testifying against Trump, under oath and on the record, are confessing to very serious crimes.

Makes you wonder who is really running this impeachment fiasco.

Who is really running this show? These people are stupid. And arrogant.

The Dems are going to shift it to the House Judiciary.

They’re not going to let it go.

“shift it to House Judiciary” Is this a fact?
Do you have a source?

Yours, at #60, is the first sensible comment in this thread. I’m supposing the House will simply vote to censure Trump and find him in contempt, citing as the reasons for forgoing an impeachment vote the lack of bipartisan consensus and the nearness of the upcoming election.

My prediction:

(1) Impeachment succeeds.
(2) Goes to trial in senate.
(3) Secret vote convicts Trump, gets tossed out of office.
(4) Overnight, we convert to single party system.
(5) Ex-Rep Senators don’t care, they are already wealthy and have nice insurance with connections to deep state.

I am 1000% on the President’s side, and know he’s innocent. Yet, I am one who is strongly in favor of going to trial - no dismissal.

Why? 1) Because an acquittal exonerates the President, while a dismissal does not. 2) Because a dismissal would be partisan while an acquittal would likely be bipartisan, with far better political optics. 3) Because the case in defense of the President would introduce evidence pertaining to and leading to the prosecution of the Spygate coup.

The Republicans are giving him good advice here.

In a way, I’d love to see a full- throated defense. But...we have to keep in mind that the election will be decided by the Independent voters in states like Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, These voters, per all the latest polling data, are sick and tired of the whole damn thing and want the politicians to get back to working on behalf of the people who elected them.

If I were Mitch...I would first establish the rules according to ordinary rules of evidence, allow each side the opportunity to subpoena any new witnesses not previously on the record ,subject to the Majority Leaders permission, ,allocate each side 8 hours to make its case and then vote the following day. Put this thing to bed.

Let Horowitz, Barr, and Durham handle the rest.
