There has been no coup. There is no coup. A coup by the very definition of the word is a “strike” i.e. a rapid takeover of the institutions of government while deposing the leaders of the de jure government. Coups do not take three years and counting. A coup happens in generally hours and always involves an armed force and seizure of government facilities and communications. So this all is NOT A COUP!

There has been no coup. There is no coup.

Seriously?

What do you call the 3+ year effort (including illegal spying and working with foreign govts) to reverse the 2016 election results and overthrow our Constitutional Republic?

Sounds like a communist coup d'etet to me...and most normal patriots.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Very_British_Coup

A Very British Coup is a 1982 novel by British politician Chris Mullin. The novel has twice been adapted for television; as A Very British Coup in 1988 and as Secret State in 2012.

Plot
Harry Perkins is the left-wing Leader of the Labour Party and Member of Parliament for Sheffield Central. Beating all the odds, Harry becomes Prime Minister and sets out to dismantle media monopolies, withdraw from NATO, carry out unilateral nuclear disarmament, and create an open government. Many people in the media, financial services, and the intelligence services are deeply unhappy with Harry’s win and his policies, and they unite to stop him by any means.

Analysis
The book was written in 1981, at a time when Tony Benn looked likely to become deputy leader of the Labour Party which at the time was strongly challenging the government of Margaret Thatcher in the opinion polls. It also has strong echoes of the persistent rumours that have circulated over the years about attempts by members of the British security services, and other wings of the British Establishment, to undermine and depose Harold Wilson’s Labour government of the mid-1970s.[3] This first became widespread public knowledge around 1986 with the controversy over Spycatcher, after the publication of the novel but before the broadcast of the TV version. The story also has echoes of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis in which there was alleged CIA involvement to remove a government proposing to close US military bases on Australian soil.

Some editions of the book include a quote by Peregrine Worsthorne from his article When Treason Can Be Right, which argues that treason to defend the UK’s alliance with the USA would be justified. This indicates the choice of name for Sir Peregrine, the chief conspirator in the novel.

A Very British Coup (miniseries)

Plot
Harry Perkins, an unassuming, working class, very left-wing Leader of the Labour Party and Member of Parliament for Sheffield Central, becomes Prime Minister in March 1991. The priorities of the Perkins Government include dissolving all newspaper monopolies, withdrawal from NATO, removing all American military bases on UK soil, unilateral nuclear disarmament, and true open government. Newspaper magnate Sir George Fison, with allies within British political and civil service circles, moves immediately to discredit him, with the United States the key, but covert, conspirator. The most effective of the Prime Minister’s domestic enemies is the aristocratic Sir Percy Browne, Head of MI5, whose ancestors “unto the Middle Ages” have exercised subtle power behind the scenes. However Harry finds support in Joan Cook, a loyal Member of Parliament (MP) and Home Secretary; and Thompson, Perkins’ Press Secretary; Inspector Page, his Head of Security and Sir Montague Kowalski, the Government Chief Scientific Adviser. It provides an intimate view of the machinations of a particularly British political conspiracy.

Writing
The endings of the novel and the television version are significantly different. In the novel, the Prime Minister is forced from office following a catastrophic nuclear accident at an experimental nuclear plant that he had pushed for while Secretary of State for Energy in a previous government. This is the most explicit parallel between Harry Perkins and Tony Benn. In the TV version, the Prime Minister is presented with forged evidence of financial irregularity following a short-lived affair years previously; with the suggestion that he should resign rather than see the story made public. He agrees to make a resignation speech on live television, but instead announces the attempted blackmail and calls for a new election. Senior Army officers and security service officials watch in silence. The final sequence, on the morning of the election, is deliberately ambiguous, but implies that a military coup has begun.

Yes (not a coup) but... You are correct in that the textbook definition of a coup is sudden and violent. However, coups don't just spontaneously happen. They are planned, preparations are made, then they are executed. I believe we are witnessing the preparations phase. The deep state, leftists, democrats, socialists - however you want to characterize them they all want President Trump removed from office.

They are failing at it miserably. The economy is growing, national security is improving, the President is actually doing the things he said he'd do, the President's popularity and his party's political fundraising are rising...

About now, as we see the 'rat candidates thrashing around in disarray, it has to be sinking in among the power players that even with massive, unprecedented election fraud they are almost certainly going to lose, again, in 2020.

I believe the impeachment BS is in fact an indication that they have put their alternative plans in motion, acknowledging their coming loss in 2020. They don't really expect to be successful in impeaching the President on trumped up and fabricated charges. They are laying the groundwork, the public justification, for removing the President - one way or another.

I wish I could say it is far-fetched. Maybe it is. But I believe there is a plan somewhere that after the sudden, illegal, and violent removal of the President their plan is to say "We're sorry, but for the good of the Country we felt we had to take action to remove this corrupt...blah blah blah." That is why there are all these outlandish charges and characterizations being floated publicly. That is why Muller ground along for years collecting BS, why the "inquiry" (aka inquisition) is accepting 2nd and even 4th hand "testimony." It is all to put a publicly (if not legally) justified face on their next actions.

Hopefully I'm wrong, I probably am. But we've seen the Clintons, obamas, Holders et. al. demonstrate they are above the law and consider themselves above the law. They and their ilk probably think they could pull it off. We'll see. If we make it 6 months into President Trump's 2nd term without an actual coup attempt I'll believe I'm wrong. Until then...

You’re confusing coup with coup-de-etat.
