I love the capital gains tax rollover idea. We have something similar for real estate with 1031 exchanges. Why not for equities when the money will remain in the market and not coverted to cash? I assume dividends will still be taxed as ordinary income so nobody will be accused of tax dodging by chasing higher yields.
