NSC's Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman: 'I'm responsible for Ukraine. I'm the most knowledgeable'
The Washington Times ^ | November 17, 2019 | Rowan Scarborough

Posted on 11/18/2019 9:12:45 AM PST by jazusamo

The public on Tuesday will get its first look at Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman in action.

And if he follows his closed-door testimony, he will knock his commander in chief while retelling his version of potentially damning conversations with a Trump ambassador.

“I’m the director for Ukraine,” Col. Vindman told the joint House impeachment panel on Oct. 29. “I’m responsible for Ukraine. I’m the most knowledgeable. I’m the authority for Ukraine for the National Security Council and the White House.”

“I’m certainly not the president of the United States,” he said at another point, when asked by a Republican whether he intervened to discourage Ukrainian officials from cooperating in a corruption investigation requested by President Trump...

Col. Vindman, his uniform brimming with medals as he entered the House committee’s special compartmental information facility, has won favorable coverage in The New York Times and other liberal media, as well as praise from Democrats wanting to impeach Mr. Trump.

When House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot L. Engel, New York Democrat, questioned the officer, he started by saying, “Have you received commendations and awards for your prior service?”

Col. Vindman, 44, then took the committee on a tour of his ribbons,...

Col. Vindman, while touting himself as the supreme Ukraine authority, could not remember the name of Kyiv’s charge d’affaires, who is serving as the highest-ranking diplomat in Washington.

“I know the guy. I met with him a few times. His last name escapes me at the moment,” he said.

Col. Vindman also erroneously credited President Barack Obama with sending the first lethal battlefield aid to Ukraine in the form of advanced Army Javelin anti-armor weapons.

In a hallmark decision, it was Mr. Trump who approved the transfer, which took place in March 2018.

I have been looking into this knucklehead since his name first surfaced. Using his Wikipedia page, his opening statement, the transcript of his testimony, comments by others who knew him. What follows is my opinion and not necessarily verified, but I am confident that this is correct.

He graduated from college in 1999 and was commissed from ROTC as an Infantry 2LT. After the usual training at Ft Benning, including Airborne School and Ranger School. Standard fare. He was then assigned to Korea for one year where he was a rifle platoon leader and an anti tank platoon leader. The second job usually goes to a Lieutenant who did well as a rifle platoon leader.

He was then reassigned to Ft. Lewis, WA where he was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, almost certainly to the 1st Bn, 5th Infantry (Bobcats). This brigade was the second in the Army to convert to a Stryker Brigade and would be considered a prestigious assignment for a Lieutenant.

In October, 2004 he deployed to Iraq with the rest of his brigade. He should have been a Captain by this time. In November, he was wounded in action by a roadside IED. He was not evacuated, so the wound must have been minor. At this time, his battalion was employed in the 2d Battle of Fallujah. The rest of the brigade was not involved. The Bobcats were attached to the 2d Bde, 1st Cavalry Division and were part of the blocking mission south of the city. The battalion received the Navy Commendation Award and this award was worn by LTC Vindman when he testified. The rest of the 1st Brigade, 25th Division did not receive this award.

Vindman redeployed in October 2005 along with the rest of brigade. He was most likely a staff officer at this time, rather than a company commander. He did not receive a Bronze Star for this deployment, something that most successful company commanders would have received. My guess is that he became a company commander after the redeployment to Ft. Lewis when considerable turnover would have occurred.

Shortly after their return, the Brigade was redesignated as the 2d Cavalry Regiment (Stryker) and was alerted for deployment to Germany. Vindman wears the insignia of the 2d Cavalry Regiment as his Regimental affiliation. Significantly, he does not deploy with the Regiment when it is sent to Iraq. He is apparently out of command and prepared for a reassignment. He would have gone to Ft. Benning for his Career Course, and likely then sent to graduate school (Harvard) in preparation for his next assignment as a Foreign Area Officer.

At this point, his Infantry career was over even though he continued to wear the crossed rifle insignia. I’m sure that he wanted to make this move and I’m sure that the Army thought that he would be must more valuable to the Army as a native Ukrainian speaker than as an Infantry Officer.

Reading between the lines, Vindman did whatever was required to advance his career and he figured out that the best way to do that was to covey up to the State Department types who were almost 100% flaming liberals. In other words, he went native and expected that he would see the reward when Hillary was elected. Oops. At that point I believe that he was recruited to be a member of the Resistance and become an embedded deep swamp operative inside the NSC. He is clearly relishing that role. I don’t think that he wants to or expects to remain in the Army. When this is over, he will retire and then join with his fellow deep state co-conspirators.

He is an opportunist, a low life, and looking out for himself. He could give a $hit about the U.S., or for Ukraine for that matter. When he becomes a liability, the deep state will throw him under the bus.

Great info, thanks.

It seems post 9/11 the military has attracted more than it’s share of career climbing low lifes like Vindman.

An excerpt from Breitbart:

The “Coup” Against a Sitting U.S. President Became Official on October 29th, 2019… Posted on November 9, 2019 by sundance

The word “coup” shifted to a new level of formalized meaning last week when members of the political resistance showed up to remove President Trump wearing military uniforms.

Not only did U.S. military leadership remain silent to the optics and purpose, but in the testimony of Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman he admits to giving instructions to ignore the instructions from a sitting United States President.

Vindman should be in confinement awaiting trial instead of prancing around.

In the Ukraine, if you are involved in politics you are either in the camp of the current government, or the camp of the one recently removed from power, the pro-Russian group.

In which camp does Vindman belong???

When thinking on the matter, I believe that he will be destroyed if he lies or alludes to lies.

I suspect his military career is already over

Alexander Semyon Vindman (né Aleksandr Semenovich Vindman) and his identical twin brother Yevgeny were born to a Jewish family in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. After the death of their mother, the three-year-old twins and their older brother Leonid were brought to New York in December 1979 by their father, Semyon (Simon).

He’s a lieutenant colonel.
At 44, he ain’t going any higher.
Lieutenant colonels fetch coffee for generals and colonels.
This guy is a nobody. Purple Heart? Like Kerry -his was just driving down the road.

But military-free Democrats don’t know that. To them he’s a hero.

It appears to be very bad policy to hire an naturalized citizen to oversee the foreign policy of the country he/she sought refuge from.

he’s already a liability. From reporting, two counts at least for failure to follow chain of command and two more counts of insubordination for thumbing his nose at his chain of command’s orders. Showing up in full dress uniform with his uniformed ‘ethics lawyer’ military twin brother in tow, was not good optics for the military. If he repeats the dress performance during his open ‘feelings, nothing more than feelings’ testimony, he’ll end up reassigned to Keflavik guarding a geyser.

He has willingly followed his superiors, both of them State Department types. He does not work for the Army at the NSC. He will never be court martialed, but he will likely leave the NSC soon
