Except for the Fraud’s soldiers, of course, many light in the loafers, who joined because of all the radio commercials (I heard them on the radio) promising that the military would meet recruits’ “emotional needs”.

I watched that, it was so good. I loved the part about getting some better people around the president.

I would hope the military likes their CIC; however, I thought service members stayed quiet on all things political but I know some who don’t. It was a no no when I was in.

Having an army of draftees guaranteed the army would steer away from politics. Having an army of volunteers, which has been deployed in endless (and useless?) wars, can make for a politicized army.

Not certain even at the time that abolishing the draft was a good idea. “Beware the wrath of the legions” was what the Caesars had to remember.

And didn’t the Democrats pack the military high command with their stooges—for obvious reasons?

I hope they don’t have to walk through the gates of hell on our soil to defend our president and our democracy but if they have to I hope they will keep their oaths.... ie.. oath keepers.

Instead of a draft we ought to have a mandatory service for ALL Americans.

No exemptions with the possibility of those who are immobile or mentally incapable of caring for themselves. The term should be a minimum of 2 yrs and their duties would involve those jobs currently considered non combat. The idea is to free up the volunteer military to assume tasks more related to the national defense.

Nixon was looking to assure his re-election. The prolonged, no win war in Vietnam was a drain on the Republican Party. Military morale was low, with officers subject to near mutinous conditions in the field. Fraggings were not uncommon. So Nixon took several steps to diffuse the situation, including abolishment of the draft. It is difficult to sustain a draft when the country is not directly threatened.

Barring a world war, the draft will not return.

The military prefers volunteers because they are better motivated and easier to lead and train.

They’ll have to step-over a lot of their own officers in the process.

We have 334 million people in the US. Its not possible or even a good idea to make service mandatory. The Democrats under Obama tried to pass a bill similar to what you are discussing. Its foreced labor and thankfully unconstitutional. What were you thinking?

Imagine the snowflakes being made to serve? I don’t see them making it through boot camp, if they even showed up. There would be a whole lot of resources spent rounding them up and punishing them. Then again, LE would only need to look in their Mom’s basement to find them.

Our forefathers walked through the Gates of Hell time after time to bequeath us God's blessings.

We will do the same if we must.

The military draft is not as you say “unconstitutional”.

What IS unconstitutional is a forced conscription (draft) targeting men only which was on February 2019,ruled to be unconstitutional.

Since women are currently exempt from registering for the draft that would have to be amended with the passing of a law by Congress.

AS for what I am thinking by my suggestion, that would be to force if necessary people to pay back this country for all they have had given them while living inside it’s borders.
