Manu Raju @mkraju I obtained a copy of David Holmes' opening statement, saying that he heard Trump telling Gordon Sondland: "So, he's gonna do the investigation?" Sondland tells Trump: "He's gonna do it" and that Zelensky will do "anything you ask for."
If Holmes is a Democrat witness, no, it means Holmes is lying.
I think it was the day after the phone call
But the NYTs reported the other day that another person also overheard the conversation (not agreeing just FYI)

Two devastating details from Holmes’s testimony, just read on air by CNN: 1. He personally heard Trump demand investigation of Biden. 2. Sondland said Trump didn’t care about the war with Russia because he only cared about things that benefited him, like the Biden investigation.
Sure, but the fact that the President was urging the Ukrainians to purge corrupt Americans could only be a reference to the Bidens.
So ludicrous.
He was calling the President at 7 AM ?? The President says he does not remember the call at all.
And ambassadors just call the President anytime they feel like it??

Sondland is caught in about as clear a lie as you will find. He told the committee he never discussed investigating Biden with anyone at the WH or State Dept. According to this testimony, he did both.

Which shows they have no reasoning abilities.
No way could Holmes provide any evidence Trump said these things or Sonland did - even if it were all true.
And, Holmes could be making it up, no way legally to know.
A prosecuter would be laughed out of court trying to use this as evidence.
Ok thanks sounds about right. Personally I’m a bit nervous about a trap. So far Trumps defense hinges on there was no investigation and no threat to force one. If either proves false there may be no escape. The truth is Trump was well within his right to ask for an investigation in fact there is a treaty that requires it. It may have been smarter use that from the beginning. All these heresy statements could be leading to something more concrete. Am I alone in this concern? I keep getting flamed for even questioning any aspect of Trumps approach to this.
This makes no sense at all.
