In his reaction to the December 6 Chinese Global Times article quoting experts saying Chinas Peoples Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) may require five or six aircraft carriers, David Axe wrote an article asking, Could Beijing really pull it off? The short answer is that Beijing is just getting started.

Well, when your goal is to control the world....???
You have the boat so you can land the planes and you have the planes to protect the boat, so you can land the planes. It’s a self licking ice cream cone. Who didn’t like ice cream?
Hilarious.
The Chinese haven’t even shown the ability to put a Destroyer Group 10,000 miles from home.
And folks are worried they’ll soon surpass the US Navy.
Friggin’ hilarious.
Ping.
“Well, when your goal is to control the world....???”
And our politicians are helping you.
Paid for you by the Globalists, NBA, Taylor Swift and I am sure NFL wants in China so bad they can TASTE it.

Friggin hilarious.”
Maybe not soon but in 10-15 years. Look how far they have come in last 10 years. Our own military said China is outspending/resesarch us on AI by 200:1
What will our military be like in 10 years if democrats get in charge?
Ten targets that could and should mysteriously sink as they leave Chinese waters.
Not sure how targeting works but obviously there is a reason space force is thing.
The FIRST Navy with Laser anti-aircraft weapons wins.
10 Carriers would secure the South China Sea.
The fixed island fortifications they have now is just a silly reprise of the failed Maginot Line.
Though I doubt the Carriers would be any more effective, maybe give them an excuse to nuke one of ours in retaliation and expect to get away with it. Kinda weak.
1 Sat image.
10 Cruise missiles
No more carriers
Such is the world we live in today. Same goes for our carriers.
Bar none the US Navy is the best fighting surface force on the planet. The concern is the absolutely huge amounts of money going into the CMC (Chinese Military Complex). Given enough money the numbers will over shadow the US capacity to respond. Currently there is no hope in hell the Chinese could stand a chance against a US carrier group. It comes down to numbers and e have to be able to counter that with far superior hardware and technology. The US budget should also mirror the what the Chinese are doing. Playing catchup with hypersonic weapons and their ilk is not a scenario the US wants to be in.

Yep. As an analogy, at one time the West discounted the Japanese. Then in 1905 the Japanese navy destroyed much of the Russian navy. So you never know...
Noting also how many ports, canals, airfields, and warehouses the communist Chinese now control all around the world. Including in several highly strategic ( militarily) locations. This far exceeds what maybe expedient for peaceful commerce imho
One of the problems is what was demonstrated by the Pearl Harbor attack. They sunk the battleships, but technology was moving on. They shoulda got the carriers.
The way the world is going now, it’s pssible that ships that can release swarms of unmanned aircraft or drones may be far more bang for the buck than carriers. Things are definitely changing fast.
Time marches on.
Billions of investment that could be sunk with hundreds of thousands of missiles.
Total waste of money
