Joe Biden is barely hanging on as the frontrunner and Barack Obama just slapped him in the face with Deval Patrick. Never before in the history of the modern presidential campaign have we seen such a thing.
The news former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has decided to pull the trigger on a late presidential run is nowhere near as interesting or consequential as the why behind his decision.

That was my first thought when Patrick announced he was thinking of getting in. This is an Obama/Holder construct. First Obama doesn’t endorse Biden, then he puts up Patrick.
It’s going to take a long time for old Joe to pull the Obama’s shiv out of his back.

But the author doesn’t say what Obama hopes to achieve with Patrick. If Patrick has no chance because it’s too late and he’s millions behind on fundraising, what would this move achieve, other than undermining Biden and clearing the way for Warren, who the author correctly observes scares the Democratic smoke-filled room.

This clears the way for Michelle to jump in late, possibly as late as the convention.

Is it any coincidence that the opposite of Deval (all money and organization, no natural constituency) jumped into the race at precisely the same time? Bloomberg.
Possibly the plan is for the two of them to link up in a brokered convention. Bloomberg P, Patrick VP. Then Partick can run on his own in 4 or 8 years.
Joe shoould start dumping the dirt on BHO.
That actually makes a lot more sense than most conspiracy theories. Patrick seems to be more on the same page as Obama than the other candidates. He’s also not identified with any existing group in the party, and he hasn’t completely committed on various issues so he’s still pliable and open to influences. If Holder doesn’t decide to run, it makes the theory all the more plausible. If Holder gets in, it’s less likely that Obama is behind Patrick.

Patrick definitely is getting in the race with Obama’s “blessings”. With Hillary making it all but official she’s running again did anyone think the Obamas would sit still? There is an internal fight for control between the Clintonistas and the Obamaites!
Hadn’t thought of that before, but maybe Patrick is a tactic to force Biden to drop out after Obama endorses Patrick.
deval patrick is a bigger joke than the asian guy, castro, and butterbutt.

It keeps the water muddy and hopefully prevent anybody else from pulling out with a clear lead. Hillary teasing a run is another example of muddying the waters. It’s gonna be the wookie.
Everyone irat is getting a payment for shilling for Obama. It’s a money grab.
I believe Deval Patrick is mainly running to establish credibility as a VP candidate, and to help the Democrats deal with internal polls that are almost certainly showing a massive hemorrhage of black voters (especially men) to Trump.
It means that Obama doesn’t think Spartacus or Kamala have any hope of becoming the nominee so another black person should enter the race. He may know better than anyone else if Michelle is really thinking of running...I doubt that she will. If she did want to be President she would be better off waiting until 2024.
Obama doesn’t want to be known as the last black President. He will go all out for any POC.
