he "Russia hacked the DNC" story appears to be fake and only backed up by the DNC and their contractor Crowdstrike. Blowing it up into a huge conspiracy was ridiculous and only intended to damage Trump.

Are you sure about that? Did you read the Mueller indictment of the 12 GRU officers for the hacking? There is a lot of stuff in there that isn't from Crowdstrike.

It's been almost a year since I read it, but it did leave me thinking that there was more evidence that just the Crowdstrike claims.

I was surprised that I found it pretty compelling. Unlike the Troll Farm case, which I found (and still find) laughable.

And, I think this is so obvious that it barely needs mentioning, but neither Mueller nor anyone else believes Trump had anything to do with the GRU operation. Just reading the indictment, it was a full on cyber-war operation, and it had nothing to do with Trump.

Our adversaries do this sort of stuff all the time. The Chinese hacked into the personel dept, computers for a big chunk of FedGov a few years ago.

GRU hackers are quite accomplished, essentially Russian Cyber Special Forces. They didn't need, depend on or seek help from anyone outside our their own team, just like if the CIA or DIA were running some sort of cyber-op against Iran, then wouldn't be using Iranian dissidents in Iran to help them. Not needed, too risky.

No doubt, someone, if not the GRU, spearphished Podesta and some folks at DNC to get some low hanging fruit. And in doing so, exposed some idiots to get information from DNC, the most damaging being that the DNC was undermining Bernie Sanders. But the real evidence, the actual DNC and Clinton servers, were never accessed by the FBI or CIA, who admitted that they were using forensics provided by Crowdstrike. Obviously, the prosecutors can say whatever they want, since they know for certain that the Russian military officers will never be sent to the USA.

Like I said, we should be "bothered" by Russia's interference in the election. But it still PALES in comparison to the foreign interference directed against Trump, including the actions of Ukraine, Clinton, the DNC and Fusion GPS (and likely actors in Russia and several other countries).
