This whole situation is stupid - 3 judges (2 guys, one girl) are in the city for a conference and go out bar hopping after a night on the town they get the white castle cravings and head over to the nearest one. While in the parking lot 2 other guys (one old, one young) pass by and the drunk women judge makes some smart-a** comment (I’m presuming she alluded to the sexuality of the guys) which ticks off the guys and they start shouting back. The 2 male judges defend the women judge, fight ensures and one of the guys pulls out a gun and shoots both male judges.
The shooters story gets buried (the younger one was on parole with tracking bracelet but isn’t charged), the male judges get pilloried in the press for conduct unbecoming of judges and getting themselves shot (for defending a female judge?!) and the female judge barely gets a mention and the smallest punishment from judicial branch.

This is one of those “local stories” where the media reports just don’t make sense. Something significant was “left out”. Probably edited out at the insistence of a prosecutor or something. I used to read articles like this all the time in the Philly area growing up and you’d just kind of go “hmmm...”. Then maybe you’d hear a rumor a week or 2 later that most likely leaked from the police, but by that time the Media has moved on.

There's no buried to this story.
"The plea agreement received Friday stipulates that Vazquez plans to plead guilty to a class A misdemeanor for battery, with the remaining six charges to be dismissed.

No recommendation for a sentence is outlined in the agreement, but the state recommends that Vazquez have probation revoked in a separate case and be sentenced to 180 days on home incarceration in that case."

If Indy wins on a mix of those charges and they probably will, Kaiser is going to get the lower range of 15-20 (and serve 5-10).

Vazquez faces charges of two counts of felony battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, two counts of misdemeanor battery resulting in bodily injury, two counts of misdemeanor battery and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Well, the woke among us would note that the shooters were obviously sexist - they shot the males but not the woman.

Can’t we all agree that female judges should be treated exactly the same (except when they are treated better) and that the folks in the eeeevil SUV should be required to shoot her as well and attend diversity training?
