Attorney General Bill Barr will announce a new Department of Justice initiative tomorrow called Project Guardian. Project Guardian, which will be implemented through ATF and overseen by DOJ, will focus on preventing "gun violence" in cities across the country.
Barr will make the announcement and detail the project Wednesday from downtown Memphis. He will be joined by ATF Acting Director Regina Lombardo, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee D. Michael Dunavant and ATF Special Agent in Charge of the Nashville Field Division Marcus Watson.
In the meantime, President Trump's DOJ has been setting records for prosecutions against felony possession of firearms, against criminals carrying out crimes with firearms, illegal firearms sales and more.
"According to data from the Executive Office for United States Attorneys (EOUSA), the number of defendants charged with criminal felony offenses increased by nearly 15 percent from more than 71,200 defendants in FY 2017 to more than 81,800 in FY 2018. In FY 2018, the Justice Department charged the largest number of violent crime defendants since EOUSA started to track this category more than 25 years ago (more than 16,800)surpassing by nearly 15 percent the previous record set just last year," DOJ released last year. "In FY 2018, the Justice Department charged more than 15,300 defendants with federal firearms offenses, which is 17 percent more than the previous record."
In other words, instead of demanding additional gun control, DOJ is enforcing laws already on the books.
Attorney General Barr has a record of Second Amendment support and has expressed the need to go after criminals breaking the law to reduce violence.
Video 6:55 min. WATCH: Barr says he doesn't support extending gun background check period
Amen to that.
He’s more concerned with Chicago gang drive bys than a coup.
Trump needs to fire whomever is making recommendations to fill his administration.
“...every single felon whos been arrested with a firearm should be prosecuted Federally.”
SPJNK.
LOL the dems will just do to ATF what they are doing to ICE and refuse to cooperate. Must protect their voters at all costs.
WHAT?!
Barr was deeply involved with the Ruby Ridge murders, in which a NURSING MOTHER WAS SHOT BY SNIPER Lon Horiuchi, after the ATF suspected (NEVER PROVED) that a man owned a gun that was 1/4" too long.
Barr is NO FRIEND of the gun owner.
Does this apply to blacks and Latinos?
Non-responsie. How is he ‘focusing narrowly on guns, ..”
Because it neglects much bigger violence problems.
Because firearms are used in a minority of violent incidents and this grandstanding serves no positive purpose when the citizenry actually does need to learn to prepare for violence that doesn’t involve guns as well.
Addressing violence by breaking it down into parts and then not adressing the most common types is, not really addressing violence.
It’s hard to find statistics, except on sites trying to prove blacks are unfairly imprisoned, more than whites, but in Oklahoma, “1 out of 15 adult black males are incarcerated” (2016 figures). That’s 6.67%. Our state is in the process of releasing inmates who have been convicted of simple felony drug possession. While I’m not fine with that, I could live with it, IF felons are NOT allowed to plea down to lesser crimes!
BTW, as of 11/02/19, Bureau of Federal Prisons reports prison population of ~ 66,000 black inmates, and ~ 104,000 white inmates. That’s just Federal, though. The majority of inmates in the U.S., are in State prisons. And good luck finding THOSE statistics!
IF we need another federal law on weapons used in crime, it should REQUIRE that any person who attempts or commits a VIOLENT FELONY like ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING, HOMICIDE, FORICABLE RAPE, SALE OF ILLEGAL DRUGS, HUMAN TRAFFICING, CHILD MOLESTATION & BURGLARY WHILE ARMED & which are attempted/committed with ANY DEADLY WEAPON be sentenced to a MANDATORY 20 YEARS confinement & which case cannot be “plea bargained”, “combined with another sentence”, probated, subject to parole or “failed to be prosecuted” by the US Attorney’s Office.
Further, that the 20 year sentence must be served in full, prior to commencing any other sentence to confinement.

Please be specific. Your rant provides no detail.
Did you read it?
If so, you misread it.
What about prosecuting the leaders of the coup? Not so much. Hillary is still roaming wide and free, obama is still free. Their cadre is still free. The only people now being prosecuted are Trump supporters. The what the hell it is named report out will be out soon. The only question is whether it will be at the end of this century or the beginning of the next. But in reality, it doesn’t matter. They can’t prosecute anyone. They can’t indict anyone. All they can do is recommend. Only Barr can prosecute. Has he done that? Other than Roger Stone and Flynn.
Nothing to worry about here
Hell, that should keep them busy for decades
The what the hell it is named report out will be out soon.
Reportedly, the IG “report” is now delayed again as the lawyers for the perp criminal Democrats negotiate their pre release review of it.
Here's my prediction:
After years of these ridiculous investigations, I think the Department of Injustice (which is staffed by 95% Democrats by the way) may finally issue some indictments - but it will be a few underlings of the coup that they will go after.
Hillary, Obama, Soros, and members of Congress will skate away.
Then, we'll be strung along and told that they "little fish have to be caught to catch the big fish", but don't believe it.
