The University of Virginia canceled the 21-gun salute portion of its annual Veterans Day ceremony – citing gun violence.
James Ryan, the university’s president, posted a statement on Facebook explaining that there were concerns about firing weapons on school property in light of recent school shootings.
He said there were two specific reasons.
"First, to minimize disruptions to classes, given that this event is located at the juncture of four primary academic buildings and is held at a time that classes are in session; and second, recognizing concerns related to firing weapons on the Grounds in light of gun violence that has happened across our nation, especially on school and university campuses," the president wrote.
As you might imagine – the outrage among veterans and military supporters has been severe.
"I am very disillusioned, very upset, and very surprised that they would make such a decision," veteran Jay Levine told television station WHSV.

its so very sad that just a few thousand Californicators (and big Soroznazi and Bloomie, etc. $$$) can swing elections in such nice states as NV, AZ, NM
Carson seems pleasant enough, gas is cheap, as unlike Washoe county they don’t have enough Californians to vote themselves higher taxes (for the very best of reasons, of course!), there are a lot of activities, nearby lakes, mountains and historic towns, etc.
The Carson City Mint is still slightly active, they strike souvenir coins to order on Fridays and Saturdays.
I don’t know where you are escaping from, but you will find the people here polite and friendly.
You will also see quite a bit of open carry in Nevada.
Good hospitals, lots of casinos for entertainment, speaking of entertainment, as the state capitol they have politicians.
Not all that far from Area 51, watch the skies...

Well,it doesn’t take long for the left to conquer a state. Virginia is now a forever blue state in the second civil war. I used to get angry and now I am just getting apathetic and sad. I have no control over those who vote the way they do. Liberalism is a disease. The only cure to kill it is to eliminate it all and teach the next generations. America may be too far gone by demographics and the stupid generation.

I was at Lincoln’s Tomb in Springfield,IL this past summer and witnessed a group of Civil War re-enactors perform a retreat ceremony complete with a 21 gun salute using reproduction Civil War muskets and finishing with a rousing shot from a vintage mortar. Perhaps the University could add more punch to next year’s Veterans Day with artillery. However campus snowflakes might have to be evacuated to a safe space in the next county.
It is so sad to see the sacred soil of Virginia being besmirched by the footsteps of the hate America crowd. So much blood shed on that soil, the blood of patriots.
