Reagan was told by Deepstaters in the Department of State NOT to include that line in the speech. So I am told. He did anyway.

There is a universal hatred of Reagan among the globe’s leftists. It is the left in Germany that opposed the Reagan statue, not the center or right. The only other country whose progressive left might be more opposed to a Reagan statue in Berlin, much less in the USA, progressive left here in the US.

I was in Germany from 80 to 84. It seemed to me, the leftists got a lot of free publicity from the German media.

I was at Ramstein 81-86 and remember seeing him and first lady as they came in on Marine One and then boarded AF One. It was such an honor seeing him and I will never forget what he did for this country. If only I did not have to watch the left destroying the country he fought so hard to save.

I was in Germany in the late 80’s as our Infantry Division trained and waited for the invasion through Fulda that never came. One day as we were cleaning weapons from the range ,the news broke that the Wall came down and that was that as anti-climatic to the U.S. Army as could be.

I was at Mainz-Kastel. Maybe you shopped there. It was a huge shopping center.

Loved that man, Ronald Reagan, now a close second to President Trump.

I was working at Point Mugu when they brought him home to be transported to the memorial site. The sheer spectacle of people lining every street and freeway on the route would choke you up.

The Berlin statue shows Mr. Reagan holding speech cards bearing the famous quote: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

Ronald Reagan - The Great Communicator

Donald Trump -The Great Doer

Reagan could communicate the message in a way no other President could and did a lot against opposition, but unfortunately was stymied on the wall and on the courts . E.g., Bork and the deal on amnesty that was supposed to include action against further illegal immigration.

Trump communicates a lot but the hatred and opposition against him has kept his message from being fairly presented. While not fine, at least he is getting the job done. Constitutionalist judges and Justices not derailed. The Wall is being built. With his resounding re-election coming in which Republicans loyal to Trump retake the House he will be no lame duck and the amount done by the end of his second term will make the amount done this term pale in comparison.

No damage at all. We went to the Reagan Library in late September this year. Quite solemn. Should be on every FReeper’s bucket list.
