How an isolated group of Mormons got caught up in Mexico's cartel wars
The Guardian ^ | November 8, 2019 | David Agren

The deaths of nine women and children has thrust into focus a small religious community and their long history in a remote corner of northern Mexico.

[snip]Six children and three women – all US citizens – were massacred on a dirt road nearby, when gunmen ambushed their convoy of SUVs, killing children at point-blank range and shooting one mother as she begged for their lives.

[snip]The region is understood to be the site of a battle for dominance between an organized crime group known as La Línea, based in Ciudad Juárez in Chihuahua, and another group known as Los Salazar based in Sonora and affiliated with the Sinaloa cartel.

[snip]Relatives of the victims acknowledge that the security situation in the region had started to deteriorate as the rival crime groups battled to control the isolated road running north towards the frontier.

It’s just a matter of time before the Cartel Wars move across the border into the USA and Americans are massacred on US soil—unless President Trump succeeds defeating the Democrats and their evil plans for America.

“I recall in Romney’s bio that his family spent time in Mexico when he was a child.”

Different family geoup. His folks stayed connected to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

<> Yes, he did. If I am not mistaken, his father was born in Mexico and was a Mexican citizen.

“They’re not afraid of the US”

THAT is the case.

In the ‘60s they were terrified of US law enforcement. Illegals were pulled out of their ‘65 Impalas and carted off in green vans while the hook came out to drag their cars to the impound lot on Ajo way in Tucson.

Drug mafias like the “cartels” would have been body slammed by BP units without regret.

The BP was founded because of Villa and his cross border raids. The Southern Democrats objected to using the military for a police action like that under Posse Comitatus so the response was to create the BP, a dedicated police agency that had a para-military mission.

The modern Democrats are attempting to castrate the BP in a similar way.

You’re analysis of what may have happened with the LeBaron family is also accurate. Ervil LeBaron was a murderer who caused trouble in Salt Lake for decades, and his family was probably mixed up in some things that put them at risk.

Doesn’t in ANY way justify a hideous massacre of women and children. Just shows that the most depraved scum on the planet runs free in Mexico now, and they are planting their monsters among us with illegal immigration.

Time to run the Orks out of town.

I believe you are 100% correct. There’s no other reasonable explanation.

You’re absolutely right on every count.

Of course, AMLO “hugs not guns” is not going to help. Trump is reaching out to him, because it’s obvious that AMLO the Socialist Wonder can’t run his own country and needs help. But I’m not sure how much longer we can wait for him to realize this. Mexicans on the ground certainly want somebody to get a grip on it and would be happy to cooperate, but their government has always run on anti-Americanism. And every candidate, including AMLO, has said they were going to stop corruption and crime. So how’s that going?

it’s a security problem for us because Mexico is an increasingly lawless neighbor state, most of the US drug supply of meth, fentanyl and a host of other bad things comes into the US via Mexico, which has gotten the stuff from China often via Cuba, and this has got to stop.

I’m sick and tired of people saying Americans are responsible because they use drugs and also offering the tired drug legalization trope to protect Mexico. Fentanyl....legal? All of the designer drugs...legal? I think not. The fact that the legalization of pot in many states has done nothing to stop the Mexican drug flood tells you all you need to know. Also, addicting people is a major business....when I lived in NYC during the crack “epidemic,” dealers were literally snagging teenagers outside the schoolyards or basketball courts and giving them a few hits to get them going.

Years later, in the South, there was a brilliant cabinetmaker working on a project in my house....until he went out one night and got dragged back to his old meth habit by a pusher. His wife had left him because of this, and he was hoping to get her and his children back, and had moved to my state to get away from his connections in his home state. But they found him. The next day, he showed up late, made no sense when I talked to him, the shelves were crooked, the doors didn’t hang...and the general contractor fired him. It was terribly sad, but I bet not an unusual story.

The approval of the boomer left, of course, remembering their pot-smoking senior year in high school around the time of Woodstock, was what let these drugs get the grip they did. And it’s still so.

Stamp out these dealers, cut off the Chinese and Cuban trade, protect Americans. Also, the drug dealers are like the Mafia....organized crime into everything from controlling the sales of gasoline to gas stations, to prostitution, to shake-downs of legitimate businesses, to...you name it. And Mexico is run by them.

If Trump weren’t being attacked on every side by the left, including people in the military, he could probably get more cooperation from other countries, including Mexico. They have actually been pretty good at stopping and returning people on their southern border and ours after Trump sweetened the pot in some way, and also because the “refugees” were a financial and social problem for Mexico so we gave them an out by saying they had to turn them back because of the US.

I hope Trump can do something about this current situation, though, and as you say, the important thing is that these people were American citizens, the Mexican cartels knew it, and they didn’t care. Somebody has to make them care.

I remember those days having grown up in Tucson. The BP was able to do their job in those days.
