Mike Bloomberg is jumping into the Democratic presidential race because he believes that Joe Biden is fading, opening the moderate lane next to Elizabeth Warren, sources close to the former New York mayor tell Axios.
Why it matters: "Mike will spend whatever it takes to defeat Donald Trump," a Bloomberg source said. "The nation is about to see a very different campaign than weve ever seen before."
I'm told there's no way he'll later run as a third-party or independent candidate, partly because of ballot-access hurdles.
Theory of the case: Bloomberg, who according to Forbes is worth $52 billion, will self-fund, allowing him to run an essentially national campaign at a time when the rest of the field is raising money and focusing on early states.

Go for it. I always love watching liberals blow their wad.
No doubt he is a threat. Probably more so than any of the current candidates. I'm hoping the base is so married to their Bernie, Warren, Buttigieg, or whoever, that they reject Bloomberg riding in on his white horse.
I also figure he will seriously damage the fundraising of his opponents by taking in the donations of wealthy Jews. According to some sources, US Jews account for a huge portion of Dem fundraising. While Bloomberg might not really need the money, his opponents do.
US JEWS CONTRIBUTE HALF OF ALL DONATIONS TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Maybe Bloomberg and Jeff Bezos and Tom Steyer, can spend all of their fortunes to try to beat Trump.
They’ll discover that not even $100 billion was not enough to remove Trump from the presidency. Which is why Schiff and Pelosi and Nadler have been trying their plan-B, impeachment.
They know there’s not enough money nor any candidate that can unseat Trump, so, they’re left with plan-B, which will fall very short of removing the president. Only if Trump cannot, for health reasons, complete the remaining FIVE years of his presidency, will the democrats see Trump leave before his 2 terms are up.
Lets get this straight. Bloomberg was a Democrat prior to being mayor. He ran on the Republican ticket because there was room on the ballot. He then switched to being an Independent. Now hes back to being a dem.
Soros will help.
And platform shoes.

Mike has about $900. Million Dollars just burning a hole in his pocket. Go for it Mike. The local economy could use the cash infusion.
If he wins...
If my local liberals are typical, the progs are gonna hate this. The last thing they want is “moderate”, they think that’s what opened the door for Trump. I doubt that if Mao or Stalin were brought back to life they would be far left enough...
And NYC might be overwhelmingly Democratic, but the Democrats habitually run a lot of goofy nitwits and losers in their mayoral elections. Just take a look at the mayor they have now as a perfect case in point.
He may file, but I’m mot 100% sure he will actually run. I suspect he is trying to thin the heard before he actually runs.
$50 billion diviced by 329 million people only comes to $152 per person...that ain’t gonna do it, Mike. Some of your pals were promising a grand a month, you better up the ante!
My main objection to his spend-thrift campaign is he will enrich the mass media and the big tech Goliaths.
So we lose even when he loses.
He's a Placeholder for HILLIARY!

Bloomberg is gay? Is there a source for that?
Wikipedia says he has kids, is divorced and lives with a former banking official named Diane Taylor.
Judge Judy likes him.
There have been well-founded rumors floating around about that guy for years.
I hope the very wealthy nitwit spends all of his money...and loses.
