We experimented with “bat bombs”.

Drop a container full of bats that are released before it lands. The bats had a small incendiary device on a timer. The idea was the bat would get up under an eave or into a Japanese building. Most were wood or straw and very flammable.

We ended up not using them as they were not deemed viable.

However, during testing, we did end up burning down some of our own buildings by accident!!

When I read that I thought “It obviously works! Why not viable???”

Often not the case. This is the beginning of fire season on the east coast. When the leaves come off the trees, they burn - usually human caused. I’ve spent a couple of Thanksgivings in North Carolina on fires.

Did you not read the first 2 sentences of the article? May I suggest that you read it again, slowly and out loud. Here, I'll even repost it in large print which, hopefully will make it easier to understand:
