Are you, because you sure argue like one.
It sure has been fun chatting. Have a happy.
I don’t know the situation on that campus.
There may not have been anyone else to call.
How quickly this fully transpired, I don’t know if there was time for that either.
I wonder how the police would have conducted getting her under control.
They wouldn’t have allowed her to just walk off campus either.
If she got hit by a car, or had been picked up by some third party and something happened to her, this school would have been wide open to a massive lawsuit that would make this pale by comparison.
Look, sorry you and I can’t agree on this one.
I see posts all the time lamenting what we allow to take place on school campuses, then something like this comes along and we pick to pieces the guy who actually stood up to the errant child.
I can see where some of you are coming from.
Take care.
Somebody needs to, don’t they? There is not a hell of a lot to defend. She did disrespect the Officer’s authority. And her law will disrespect the hell out of the School Board’s budget. And every property owner in the County can say, “Thank you Officer” for making my property taxes go up to pay the lawsuit you caused.
My goodness. Our country is so screwed all the way around. Government and its citizens are dumb, ignorant pathetic idiots.
Girl leaves school.
Girl gets in car of unemployed young friend.
All sorts of things can branch out from there.
Should the officer have tried to get her under control, or should they all have just waited for another type of law-suit to drop?
In this case, you’re likely damned if you do, and damned if you don’t.
“What if your child put their nose in your face in front of the other kids and told you no?”
I sure wouldn’t act like that juvenile cop!
?
He should have tazed her until she peed herself.
She needs a proper home, hers does not do anything for her. Imagine the hell she puts on the other kids.
Tell us what you would have done?
If your child stood there nose to nose with you and said no, perhaps using curse words, what would you have done?
All I hear from everyone is, “I sure wouldn’t have handled it the way that cop did.”
I haven’t seen one single detractor explain how they would have gotten this girl under control.
That’s why I asked you what I did.
Please provide an example of how you would prevent this girl from leaving campus and becoming a threat to her own safety.
I agree. How can anyone defend what that guy did? Did I miss something? She tapped his leg and walked away and he basically bodyslams her when she had her back turned? Perhaps I missed part of the video?
Doughty, give this one up. You know I didn’t say that what the 11year old girl did was ok.
But that being said, if you’re old enough, you know full well that they didn’t call up the cops when kids were misbehaving in the old days that is as long as there was no weapon (that is a real one) or threat of serious bodily harm. Most of the time, the school staff would have tried to talk the kid down and call up the parents and take her home. Knowing how to deal with unruly kids in an effective and safe manner is an important part of being a teacher or principal. Then there would be some sort of conference and meeting with the parents and child, and then the child would receive some sort of disciplinary action or punishment. The staff wouldn’t view a slight brush as an assault (in fact they put up with worse).
I think this puts law enforcement in an unnecessary and difficult situation because law enforcement is trained to deal with truly violent situations or situations when two opponents or opposing sides refuse to disengage. In this case, it appears that the child wanted to go home. That situation should have been within the capabilities of the school staff.
Doughty. Come on. Don’t you remember the fistfights and recess wresting matches in school? No one ever called the cops then.
School administrators, teachers, or employees are fired instantly and possibly charged if they lay a single finger on a child. That’s why the cops are called now.
I’m not a big fan of tazing kids. I don’t like what eventually happened to her here either. Still, in the end she needed to be prevented from wandering away from the premises.
She’s not learning respect at home, and in “some instances” kids these days are taught not to respect the police. Then some big oaf tries to bums rush an officer, and winds up dead.
As big as she is, what eleven year old kid stands a chance against her? It’s a mess.
I wonder how many of the kids at that school wound up smiling a bit at how this turned out.
She’s going to continue to be a social misfit. Good luck with that everyone.
She did nothing wrong here. No need to alter her behavior.
she took too many milks
**************
Based upon her size I’d say she’s been doing this for some time now.
A little less milk may be good for her.
All said the officer blew it and tax payers will pay and he’ll be
looking for another job.
I tell you what, most people just don't seem to understand the difficulties of dealing with other people's children. If you let them walk off, you shouldn't have! But if you try to physically stop them, you shouldn't have! And as you pointed out, no one on here has given any description of HOW you keep an uncontrollable child under control without laying a finger on the little precious.
Now, that officer lost his temper pretty badly, and the screaming he did bugged me more than him getting her on the ground. I think if I were him I'd have gotten her down and then stood over her and said calmly, "Okay, if you want to wait for your mother right here, that's fine. But if you get up again, you are either going back inside, or down we go again."
The report stated that she was waiting on her mother to come take her home. She did not leave school. From the video, she made no effort to leave school. Whether she gets into a car with an unemployed or employed young or old friend is moot. Because once she is released from the school’s custody to her mother’s custody, the school’s liability ends at that point. As far as the Officer’s actions went, neither the Chief, the D.A. nor the Vice Principle agreed with. In the upcoming fallout from the lawsuit, the Vice Principle may lose his job. The School Board can’t do anything to the girl or the former Officer, but they can have the Vice Principle’s ass.
.
No, you didn’t. Still, how would others have gotten her under control? As of yet, I see a lot of trash talk aimed at the officer, and no grasp at all of how they should have gotten this girl under control short of what took place.
One person stated they should have just ignored her, and charged her for an extra milk. I’m not sure that’s how it works these days. The school is paid a certain amount per day by the government, and there’s no mechanism for charging the parent.
Your vision of parent teacher conferencing and working together for the good of the child, is a vision of a time gone past.
Kids stand up and tell the teacher “F U” to their face. The parent is called in, and they tell the teacher “F U” to their face. Nothing happens to the kid.
Yes in the old days there were fights on the campus. Kids got reprimanded for it. Officers were not called in. True, but parents did back the school up. Now? They just don’t.
Sure the decent ones do, but we’re obviously not talking about a decent home here.
Look folks, if we want to let kids do whatever they want, and never call them on anything again, it’s your call.
Just don’t come here to this forum to lament what kids get away with any longer. We’ll just allow the little rug-rats to run wild on school campuses and smile as if it’s going to work out well in the society down the road.
