Keep in mind that New York is certainly going to lose one House seat after the 2020 census, and maybe even two. You can be sure that 1-2 GOP seats will be gerrymandered out of existence.
I mean rural areas are GOP. In many respects were a minority in this country.
Being a small town or rural voter means you have little say in whats going on.
As Democrats dominate the vote-rich cities and are swamping the suburbs, too.
I live in Belvidere just down the Delaware River from the gap. We are still pretty solidly conservative but changing at a rapid rate. I don’t know how much longer we can hold on.
“I live in one of the most conservative areas of New Jersey, and we now have a Democrat representing us in Congress for the first time in several generations.”
My district used to be solid R until the Rats started redrawing the election maps, now my congressional district map cuts in to Hackensack just enough to give the Rat candidate a 2-3 point win. I can remember 25 years ago when the state had solid R majorities, things sure have changed for the worst since then. But at least last night we made some progress in battleground districts.
Democrats will never turn America completely Blue. Well still live in places where we can preserve our values and live our lives.
The threat of political irrelevance has never overmuch bothered me.
Southern jersey is cape May where my parents have an alpaca farm
Cape May is the oldest settlement in America. 1620. Very conservative and lovely. Victorian architecture from the 1800s
Could not be more different than up by New York City
Theres a ferry on the hour from lewes Delaware
1. One out of every seven workers in New Jersey is employed in the public sector.
2. 50% of all households in New Jersey have at least one person who is a government worker or a retired government worker.
[[[I’ve traveled all over North America, and I can tell you that you’d be hard-pressed to find a dumber group of voters than suburban women in New Jersey.]]]
Man, you have that right. Its like a sorority cult.
good to know. thanks.
Ughhhh for the 800th time, North Jersey is not all blue. It is mostly red or leaning red and some of the most conservative areas in the state are in the western Highlands region. The ROUTE 1 CORRIDOR is what is blue as a dead body and politically killing the rest of us.
My little town in North NJ - 12 miles from NYC -— the way the bird flies -— was once conservative, but families from NYC move here because of the excellent school system. A Dem town now.
Politically New Jersey would be totally different if we could get get rid of Jersey City, Newark, Paterson, Elizabeth, New Brunswick, Trenton, Camden and Atlantic City. Not all portions of the state are right leaning but those cities are downright crazy Democrat cesspools.
