I didn’t say it was in the Capital Building. It’s along the Capital Mall.

Call it ‘45th Way’ to honor Prez Trump.

You know, name it after him or don't. I don't really care for two reasons: one I'm not really a fan of his and two I don't live there and never intend to go there. But what does get my attention is the futile waste of time and money bouncing back and forth like this. Hey, civil rights "leaders" - leave the people alone and let them have their street named whatever they want it named. If you want a street named after MLK, then try to get your neighbors to sign on to rename your street. Stop meddling in other peoples' business.

Does Kansas City have a street named for Robert Byrd (D-KKK)? He has a lot of things named after himself too and this is not a good thing just because a lot of places are doing it.

I think it would be less objectionable if it were only "King Boulevard." As it is, it reminds me of this:

Those who are old enough to remember still call MLK Drive in Chicago by it’s original name - South Park

San Diego named a freeway after him. No one had to change their addresses, freeway isn’t more dangerous to be on than any other, and I’m told, no one calls it by that name anyway. Seems like a win-win all around.

The African Americans in Kansas City did not want it because it was imposed upon them by self congratulatory white do gooders.

Austin renamed a street about 5 minutes after King was shot. Reflecting on it decades later, what Austin did was a pretty good move although I don’t think it was the Libs intent at the time. Namely, they named a heavily used but secondary street after King that nobody much cared about. It’s name prior to renaming MLK was simply 19th Street.
