Nine members of a Mormon family were killed on the Mexican side of the US-Mexico border, and authorities are investigating whether the attack was the result of mistaken identity. The slain victims include three women, four small children and two infants, family member Alex LeBaron said from Mexico. He said all nine were dual US-Mexican citizens. The victims were "all shot while in vehicles while driving," LeBaron told CNN. Investigators believe three vehicles traveling between the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua were ambushed by criminal groups Monday evening, Mexican authorities said.

I disagree with your insistence that business owners who wouldn’t pay protection were somehow guilty parties and with your other assertion that kids who had been forced into prostitution deserved what they got when they died.

Your assertion requires that to be the case.

That’s a filthy, nasty, disgusting way to think.

Will Mitt Romney wake up? Will Utah wake up? Probably not. They would care only if the cartels started killing their cheap labor.

You don’t see that a country out of control next door might be an issue that a wall could help with?

The government of Mexico is not in charge of Mexico. The cartels are and they are at war with each other over control of certain areas.

Go look up and read warnings about Mexico from our State Department and tell me we don’t need a wall between our country and what is going on there.

The LDS church has released several statements over the years that show they support open borders and illegal immigration. The church supports DACA and has come out against “separation of families” statements against the wall, and many other issues of the border over the years. Without fail LDS supports the wrong side of the issue so if they are not for securing the border and stopping illegal immigration I would say they must be for it.

I know many individual LDS members that do support a wall and stopping illegal immigration but that is not in line with what the LDS leadership says.

I think they will say very little and hope it is forgotten soon.

National media has been ignoring cartel violence in Mexico...local media keeps changing the story.

The media sat on this story about the murders of women and children by cartels for a day and there are other issues now they are sitting on. How many know a city in Mexico is currently under siege by cartel violence that is right on the border? That is being buried. Agua Prieta Mexico and Douglas Arizona. A story that is being buried.

Tammy8:

See #7.

What makes you think that I am not in favor of a wall?

Please back off.

Sorry. See #56.

I didn’t say or suggest that I am not in favor of a wall or that I think Mexico is not dangerous.

Don’t make assumptions for which you have no facts.

Quick! Send our pseudo Hispanic “Beto” O’Rourke, down there to seize their AR-15s! He should get along well with his “compadres”.

It doesn’t have anything to do with this single isolated event. The thing is this is not a single isolated event, we need a wall between us and a country that has become a Narco controlled country.

This is part of an overall serious problem, a wall would be a huge part of a solution if we don’t want this kind of thing happening here.

I did not say that you said anything. I did not assume your stance on anything. Simply explained that we need a wall for the security of this country. Events like this should be proof of that.

You said this to me: You don’t see that a country out of control next door might be an issue that a wall could help with?

I could not understand why you could not see a connection between events in Mexico and our open border. I still don’t understand. I have no idea how you personally feel about the wall, was not assuming about that at all. Anything that happens in Mexico has to be our concern until our border is secure.

Maybe I just see it more clearly as I sit here less than 10 miles from the border and the only border barrier close to me is a barb wire livestock fence.

I am thankful every day that the wall is being built and is headed in my direction.

People from that LDS community cross the border South of me at Antelope Wells all the time. No doubt I have seen and talked to the women that were attacked over the years, the LDS people living in Mexico come and go through here all the time.

He very likely has so much money it could not be counted, would have to be weighed to estimate how much.

The cartels rule by paying off politicians and anyone else they feel the need to, and by terror. Carrot and stick, we will give you more money than you can imagine and if you refuse or cross us we will torture, murder you, or your family. It is known as plata o plomo and they live by it.

I have no doubt cartels are paying off a number of people in the US, and no doubt they will bring their violence here in a big way if allowed to. There is already violence among cartel people here, just not as open as Mexico. Of course it has not always been public in Mexico either.

Are you suggesting that LDS people illegally cross the border all of the time? Did you ask them if they were LDS? .... or did you identify them by a halo? Just wondering.

What gave you the idea I thought LDS people cross illegally? I have no idea what gave you that idea.

There is a Port of Entry down here South of me. I worked there for nearly 20 years. I saw people crossing back and forth LEGALLY every day. I got to know many of them that regularly crossed; I knew them at least to say hello and chat with. Some I got to know even better.

Most of the LDS down around Janos are dual citizens and they truly are, they cross back and forth come here to do business, shop, whatever. Many of the kids come here to attend college so go back and forth some weekends and holidays.

I also live near the only place to buy fuel for 100 miles for people coming up from Mexico so often even now that I am retired I see people in the store that have LEGALLY crossed the border. We have LEGAL and illegal traffic through here constantly.

So your saying that any border wall would not be needed for LDS people visiting the USA since they are doing it legally and appropriately?

My Bad ... but it was confusing that you were talking about the Trumps border wall (which I support) and ‘LDS people crossing the border all of the time’.

You are looking for something to be offended by, I don’t play those games with anyone. Go ahead and be offended if that is what you need.

One thing I have not seen is you mention the women and children that were murdered. You are so busy trying to be offended I think you lost sight of the real issue here. Women and children murdered in cold blood. That is what offends me about this. People who would do this is why we need a wall, to keep them out. That should be obvious.
