Agreed, poor choice. Obviously President Trump cannot know every hire / appointment decision personally. However, he certainly needs to perhaps reconsider who he takes advice from. His “trusted advisers” may need to be revised.
President Trump should start cleaning out the flag officer dead wood. And maybe think about reducing the number, too.

I see and agree with your point. They now have a POTUS that has their backs more than anyone since Reagan. It’ll only last until Trumps gone. If the CIC had been Reagan or Trump I might have done the whole 20. Best I could do was 7 with Nixon/Carter. 5 with Carter. Lost faith in the command structure and interest in detante.

This potential injustice makes going into military service a very problematic proposition as you can be severely punished for doing the job you were told to do. Who wants to run that risk?

It’s a difficult enough job without having to worry about getting attacked from the brass when they want to virtue signal or need a fall guy. It’s a disgrace and heads need to roll.
He needs to bring in LTG Boykin and MG Mixon along with James Webb to do some serious screening. The problem with the Obama era is that they did an excellent job of promoting guys like Mike Mullen and passing over guys like Mixon.
This guy would have made admiral during the Obama administration so I think that explains a lot.

Once again Trump did the right thing by standing up for our warfighters. Its extremely disturbing that the brass did not.
