In a ruling Monday morning, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit denied President Donald Trumps request for a preliminary injunction protecting him from a grand jury subpoena for his tax returns.
The court in an opinion written by Chief Judge Robert Katzmann rejected the notion that the president is immune from all state criminal processes...

If there were something incriminating in President Trumps taxes, someone from the IRS would already have leaked it.
You’re probably right.
But the problem if left unchecked. You will quickly get witch hunt court filings in all 50 states alleging criinal activity and seeking discovery.
It can impact the effectiveness of the President.
So if there is not already a legal precedent to protect the president, they need to create one.
If they have strong evidence of criminal wrong doing, let them send it to Congress.
Nice, right on the money.
I worked with this judge’s father until he died this year. A great guy who survived the Nazi’s as a child, came here and joined the army for WWII. How you come from that background and become lib, I’ll never understand. I guess growing up in nyc doesn’t help, but I survived it! lol. No public school (Catholic private) was my saving grace. Then again, two of Reagan’s kids were no prizes.
It was unrelated to a criminal offense.
This prosecutor doesnt know that?
He should be disbarred.
Campaign finance law is murky and it looks like they are trying to go after him like John Edwards. Edwards actually used funds from a donor but was found not guilty and all charges were dropped.

Oh, that's right - Romney never became president, in part because the Democrats lied about his tax records.
Which is what will happen when the grand jury starts "leaking" phony information about Trump's tax returns, and the Democrats and the Media [but I repeat myself...] start lying about them.
Treasury and Commerce both have confidentiality assurances for a reason.
“from all criminal proceedings.”
Pray tell Katzmann, what crime has been committed?
Shopping around for a judge should be illegal, Vance.

WHat are the odds?
He forgot - like in Steve Martin's famous skit.
Well, they are all in Florida and outside the Manhattan court jurisdiction
The SCOTUS will shut this down.
They will suggest this can be pursued AFTER he is out of office.

Mitt Romney made his taxes public, so whatever the democrats lied about, was shown to be a lie.
Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney bowed to political pressure and gave the public a glimpse inside his personal fortune on Tuesday, releasing U.S. tax returns showing he pays a lower effective tax rate than many top wage-earners.I don't think running a justice system based on who might abuse it by breaking the law is a good idea.
Btw, the blog giving you fits wants a sign-up to read the article.
My concern would be about leaks. I would expect that his tax returns will be released in full the next day.
That is not fair by any interpretation of the law. So, with that in mind, his private tax returns must not be released.
