Like many other Republican and conservative voters in California, the retired couple have decided to leave the state. A major reason, Stark and her spouse say, is their disenchantment with deep-blue California’s liberal political culture.

Despite spending most of their lives in the Golden State, they were fed up with high taxes, lukewarm support for local law enforcement, and policies they believe have thrown open the doors to illegal immigration.

You mean that the “conservatives” who are leaving are going to other states and making those states more “conservative?”

Why yes...Trump was elected and supported by lots of states, excluding CA. No?

what I would love to see is that state retirees MUST live in the state where they "earned" their pension OR take a severe deduction if they choose to live elsewhere........

people should have to live in the mess they make...

I have a neighbor who move here from Hollywood Fla that is easy trigger. His wife is friends with my wife, so when he is around he will not say one word to me. I must have offended him.

They moved here as there last option for retirement. They declare bankruptcy in South Florida, sold their home, then move here so they could buy a place with her SSN check. Not sure how they qualified for a home loan.

The funny thing is he comment he max out his Lowes card so he has to shop at Home Depot for building supplies. I guess they will be in the hole again in about 10 years.

I understand why every conservative Californian has left, but the grass doesn’t have to be, and likely won’t be greener on the other side. I moved back to CA ten years ago. Have a nice home in La Quinta, surrounded by private communities and golf courses. Our neighbors are 4-1 republicans, and there is very little riff raff around here. Weather is 85 degrees today, and restaurants and resorts are filled with tourists from around the world. We enjoy Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, shopping on El Paseo, and dining at the River in Rancho Mirage. Eisenhower Medical center is world class.
You can golf till you drop at over 100 golf courses. We pay more for things but that’s the price for quality of life, whether in Texas, Idaho, Arkansas, Tennessee, or right here in California. You can always run but you can’t hide.

They’ve been invading TX for 20+ years and bringing their liberal ideas with them.

I didn’t mistake anything. I’ve openly railed against this absurd, viscerally offensive and Orwellian mislabeling of the historic colors of the parties that began on Election Day 2000. The only thing more offensive than those that willfully mislabeled our side are those on our side who swallowed this abomination and use these false color labels. I absolutely refuse to use them and urge EVERYONE to stop using this blue-Communist Dem/red-Republican bullcrap. Take back the power. THEY are the REDS. They don’t get to label us.

That’s great that it works for you. I don’t golf...I shoot...a lot. And the writing is on the wall in California...my guns are no longer welcome so I will give the State no more of my life and wealth.

She posted her displeasure on the FB site the homeowners have. I believe she regrets her post. The house is now up for sale.

Yet I just met a retired couple who moved from Chicago to San Francisco because they wanted to live in a very liberal city where they could feel comfortable. Yes, liberalism really is a mental disease.

We left Southern CA back in May. Moved to MS where my Wife’s Family lives.

Renting a small House here temporarily while we decide where to buy a new Home. Looking at Coastal MS or another Southern State.

Tomorrow we Vote in our first General Election here.
