A Maryland police department has been banned from displaying a 'thin blue line' flag after it as dubbed 'divisive' of a community, some of which argues it was 'dismissive of the Black Lives Matter movement.
On Wednesday, cops shared their intention to display the gift, with a tweet that included a picture of three cops, who appear to be white, accepting the flag from a resident and his son.
'Thank you to resident James Shelton, who presented Montgomery County 5th District officers with a wooden American Flag that he had made in recognition of National First Responders Day,' the picture was captioned. 'The flag will be displayed in the 5th District Station.'
However they were stopped in their tracks after many community members responded with negative reactions.
'This flag, the symbol of 'Blue Lives Matter,' excuses police violence against black residents, and mocks those who affirm that #BlackLivesMatter,' one person tweeted. 'That is not what @MontgomeryCoMD stands for. Take down this tweet, and do not hang up that flag!'
For another, it evoked memories of 2017's Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia where one person died and dozens of others were injured when a man deliberately rammed his car into the crowd of counter-protesters.
'This is unacceptable. This flag was carried by the white supremacists in Charlottesville and has a meaning far beyond what you intend. (I hope!) Please do not raise this in a public building,' one woman responded.
'The Blue Lives Matter flag & movement were created in response to the Black Lives Matter mvmt. The primary purpose isn't to honor cops; it's to demean & diminish the Black Lives Matter mvmtillogically, as being a cop is a choice & being Black is not. It's racist. Take it down.'

< Im not fond of their flag. It looks like a defaced version of the American Flag. <
I agree. If its okay to put a blue line on the American flag, then where does it stop? Would be a good thing for Irish-Americans to put a green line somewhere? How about a black line for African-Americans?
The flag is supposed to unite us, not divide us.
“If the MAJORITY of us IGNORED a few fruit cakes among us, we would be AN EVEN BETTER nation.”
We did ignore them, for about 50 years while they were taking over our education system, brainwashing our kids, taking over our media and entertainment industries, etc. You sure you want to ignore them even more? Maybe it’s about time we became noticeably outraged instead!
Better to ban the blue line from setting foot into black neighborhoods. Set up popcorn stands to watch them rape, pillage and murder each other.
You have more in common with our leftist enemies than with the typical Freeper.
I thought the same.
That’s when the Muzzies will impose “Sharia Law Zones.”

Regardless of you position on this issue, I don’t think that it is appropriate for non-elected officials to use their building or office to promote any political agenda, particularly one that benefits themselves.
The Hatch act prohibits this for good reason. Do you think that the at fbi should be spending time on the job promoting themselves and duping the public into believing that they are indispensable?
These bureaucracies already have enough power and any propaganda campaign (whether you agree or disagree) should be out of bounds. Sure, they can engage in public relations, but that should be primarily focused on actually listening to the public, not telling them what to think.
Good. We have the Stars and Stripes and it is red, white, and blue! About time the police started showing some respect to the flag and not altering it. Let them use the three stripe black and blue flag and leave our national flag alone!
“Imagine if that line disappeared “
Yeah, who’d protect the criminals from an armed citizenry?
Enjoy the taste of the jackboots you so obviously like licking.
I was considering moving down closer to where I work in Silver Spring, so as to not be part of the rush hour problem, which is bound to get worse over time. But first we have County Executive Marc Elrich, who seems to think MS-13 miscreants shouldn’t be handed over to the Feds for deportation. And now we have this: Marc Elrich coming out against this flag being displayed at the police station and all these dipsh*ts on Twatter seemingly in agreement with him.
Why should I pursue a seemingly more livable lifestyle in MoCo, closer to where I work, with a faster commute and better transit options, when I would be living under such an awful local government and alongside all these dipsh*ts?
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
A relative of mine who lived there used to call it "Soweto."
