WHOLE TITLE: Veterans Oppose the Endless Wars, Back Trump: A Lot of Wasted Lives for a Goal We Never Accomplished
American Veterans who risked their lives in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars are increasingly opposing foreign interventionism that continues to dominate the Washington, DC, political establishment.
The latest Pew Research Center survey on the issue finds that 64 percent of Veterans say the Iraq War is not worth fighting, along with 62 percent of all American adults who agree. Only 33 percent of Veterans say the Iraq War is worth fighting.
Likewise, nearly 60 percent of Veterans and all American adults say the Afghanistan War was not worth the fight. Less than 40 percent say the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan was worth fighting.
In interviews with the New York Times, Veterans explained their support for President Trumps effort to end what he has dubbed the endless wars across the Middle East which has cost hundreds of thousands of lives.
All in all, it is a lot of wasted lives and money and time and effort spent to accomplish a goal we never accomplished, said 31-year-old Tyler Wade, who received a Purple Heart for his service in Afghanistan, told the Times.
Veteran Dan Caldwell said American men and women signed up to defend their homeland against terrorists, not to nation-build whole countries and remain until stability in the region is regained.
For conservative-leaning veterans, we signed up to defend our country, Caldwell said. We didnt sign up to build girls schools in the Al Anbar Province. We had friends killed or wounded in action; it wasnt clear for what.

I don't understand. Is there a new Iraq war?
You’re a doll, and thank you for making America safe and free.
We have been in Afghanistan for 18 years with no end in sight. We’ve spent countless billions of dollars and lost thousands of lives. The vets who don’t think we should leave have to come to grips that their sacrifice was made in vain, just like the Vietnam vets had to.
If you ever get promoted to general, ask JimRob to change your screen name.
Btw its Jim Robs birthday
;)
I will -:)
And that it was carved in stone that nothing lasting would be accomplished when we went in without a declaration of war.
My support for him will not waver either. I believe that he is trying to extract our forces from foreign entanglements as quickly as possible.
Happy Birthday Jim! Thank you for all you do.
I agree and support him in his efforts.
As a Vet with 26.5 years of service I tentatively agree. Why tentative? Because I know for a stone cold fact there are a great many Perfumed Princes in the Pentagon that disagree 100%. Those bastards who plot and plan, procure and benefit from PROCUREMENT and plan their post retirement on their Influence in Procurement are completely opposed to any policy that interferes in these endless wars.
They never attend any ceremony of our returning dead. They consider our dead as the price to be paid for their greater purpose of One World Nation Building which they see as a post service future wealth building opportunity for themselves.
Combat warriors have long known of these types. They are Political Operatives who wear the uniform. They have no honor in them. Not a Patriotic cell in their bodies. They dominate the Pentagon.
To them Patriotic Warriors are an unfortunate rarely needed pain in the ass. The “In Case of Emergency Break Glass” types who are to be managed and controlled but, NEVER to be allowed to attain any real position of authority.
They have nothing but disdain for the average American that reveres the Warrior. They view these Americans and those Warriors as fools who step up and perform when needed like trained circus animals.
They rely on Americans not having any understanding of this at all and revering ALL in uniform equally. And, their gamble has worked and served their purposes very well for a very very long time.
The loser Lt.Col who showed up for Schiff’s Kangaroo Court in full military regalia is a prime example of exactly what I’m talking about.
I used to be part of the “fight them there or fight them here” mentality.
Not anymore. Let’s pull out from the world and let it go screw itself. Isolationism should be given another go.
Why did we go to Vietnam in the first place?
To be neutral, what should that LT Col have worn?
“have to come to grips that their sacrifice was made in vain, just like the Vietnam vets had to.”
Road apples. The US effort in Vietnam contributed substantially to the fall of the USSR.
He was serving in a non military position in the White House. When i was being recruited for WHCA a lifetime ago, i was to serve in civilian attire and would have been given a stipend to buy suits. He was acting as a sock puppet in a show.
“Why did we go to Vietnam in the first place?”
Because they asked us to protect them from the bloodbath the commies were sure to commit if the Soviet- and Chicom-backed north won its war of conquest.
In addition, we went there to oppose the Soviet Union’s efforts to win the cold war.
After we won the war, the people of South Vietnam suffered that bloodbath anyway, when traitors in our government betrayed them.
However, the harm to the USSR was already done by that time, fortunately for human liberty.
America is a nation of sheeple. That's how we got where we are today. YOU come to grips with that and leave the vets alone.
