Judge Blocks Trump's Health Insurance Requirement For Immigrants
Townhall ^ | 11/02/2019 | Bronson Stocking

arlier this month, the Trump administration signed a proclamation requiring individuals seeking immigrant visas to show proof of health insurance coverage or the financial means of paying for healthcare before entering the United States. The rule was scheduled to take effect on Sunday, but activists are always able to find a judge willing to block the president. On Sunday, they found him. U.S. District Judge Michael Simon granted a preliminary injunction preventing the rule from taking effect.

The federal lawsuit was filed in Portland, Oregon, and claims the healthcare requirement prevents foreign family members of Americans from moving to the United States to be with their families.

Justice Action Center senior litigator Esther Sung told WQAD News 8 "The ban would separate families and cut two-thirds of green-card-based immigration starting tonight, were the ban not stopped.”

But if two-thirds of green-card-based immigrants have no means of paying for their healthcare, it proves exactly why the Trump administration issued the proclamation in the first place.

The proclamation explains how unfair it is for American taxpayers, already struggling to afford their own healthcare, to be further burdened by immigrants who can't afford their own healthcare.

you missed the point: ...have the ability to pay for their medical care. They can show they have the funds to pay for their care or the funds to purchase insurance, or show that they have a job that includes health insurance. The American public should not be required to pay for their health care.

They passed a friggin law, that was upheld by the Supreme Court, requiring American Citizens to have health insurance.

Requiring the same for “immigrants” is unfair/wrong?

Requiring them to BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT.

Or can’t you read so well?

Once they get in, it’s hard to get them out. They head to California and get all the “free stuff”. Stop them at the gates.

Lemme see if I get this straight. Only some foreign born ghetto trash of an America hating president can make decisions that stick, including sending hundreds of millions of dollars of cash to our enemies.

But a duly elected, America born president is subservient and subject to some low level faggot judge appointed by the above mentioned pseudo president?

Well then, we may as well just limit all presidential elections to the party of the RAT trash. What's the friggin' use?

Actually no, I can’t.

Why was an insurance requirement for “immigrants” blocked but an insurance requirement for citizens A-OK?

I tend to agree with you.

I am on the opposite side of the question, but I (just) obtained good insurance, and I have been in Vietnam more than three years now.

I even ended up in the hospital once, and ended up going to a hospital where my wife paid, just off the street.

Try doing that in America, without hugely damaging your credit score...

So citizens must have insurance or face punitive fines but not illegal immigrants.

Again - illegal immigrants have more rights than actual citizens in the US

Congress controls the jurisdiction of the federal courts. When the GOP controlled the House and the Senate the ability of individual federal judges to issue edicts overturning actions by the executive branch, or laws passed by Congress could have been ended.

More proof the GOP is an enabler of the destruction of the rule of law.

I just check the future vacancies list:
https://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies/future-judicial-vacancies

There is a new circuit court future vacancy announced in the 11th circuit.
Chief Judge Edward Earl Carnes, Montgomery, AL Born 1950
Served 1992–present; Chief Justice 2013–present; Appointed by G.H.W. Bush

The two Circuit judges already announced Stanley Marcus & Gerald Bard Tjoflat were appointed by Clinton & Ford. Their replacements Lagoa & Luck are already in Judiciary hearings.

When these three positions are filled POTUS will have seated 6 circuit judges in the 11th Circuit and there will be 7 R nominated judges & 5 D nominated judges. The 11th circuit is currently tied, will flip to R and was D before President Trump (2 Clinton, 1 Obama appointees took senior status).

Every one of the 14 district court pending vacancies were appointed by Bush so we will be getting younger justices but not flipping seats.

This link is helpful. Scroll down to see what districts have open seats that would switch the majority.
