A private association is putting out a call for volunteers, armed or unarmed, to provide outdoor security for Trump supporters traveling to the president’s campaign rally Friday night in Tupelo, Mississippi.
The group “Oath Keepers,” which calls itself nonpartisan, said in a notice on its website that it needs help “keeping the rally attendees safe” after a recent Trump rally in Minneapolis at which some of the president’s supporters were harassed and assaulted on their way to and from the arena.
“We generally use both armed and unarmed volunteers in our security operations, so if you have a CCW [carrying a concealed weapon permit] valid in Mississippi, that may be very useful,” the group’s statement says. “If you don’t, please volunteer anyway since we will also have a role for unarmed volunteers.”
Local and state law enforcement agencies, and the Secret Service, coordinate in providing heavy security at presidential campaign rallies.
Oath Keepers said it is not affiliated with the Trump campaign but has protected rally-goers at three other Trump events this year in New Mexico, Minneapolis and Dallas. The association has former police and ex-military personnel among its membership, and says it’s needed to protect citizens from street violence by antifa and other leftist groups.

No longer need a concealed carry permit in MS...two benefits of a permit are that 30 States have reciprocity and the Enhanced permit allows carry into more areas - including school grounds.
These are the early skirmishes that will ramp up over the next year.
Expect local law enforcement to aggressively prosecute Oath Keepers and avoid prosecuting Antifa.

OK has plenty of LE and mil members.
And OK is not going to operate, or will hold back somewhat, where local LE are hostile to them.
At Ferguson, OK was not treated well by STL storm troopers, but neither were they arrested.
There seems to be very little understanding of OK here on FR.

This is not going to turn out well. Drug addled Antifa terrorists will instigate until things get violent. I pray for the safety of everyone trying to keep the peace.
This is reckless and dangerous. All this is going to do is get people thrown in jail and the Justice Department will do nothing to help them. We already have people in jail serving felony sentences for self defense from the last election.

Yep. It would be better for there to be masses of Trump supporters with smart phones capturing video of the Antifa violence and specifically the “violators”.. And they shouldn’t be afraid to pull the masks off the the perps to get good identification on camera.
May I suggest using cops that are off duty/retired as protection. They are legally required to be armed off duty and can make arrests. I will gladly pay money to hire cops for this. I know many cops in my family that do work as bodyguards, bouncers and detective work because even when retired they can carry a firearm and can talk to uniformed police if they are needed. “I am on the job - let me tell you what happened with this Antifa I am holding down”, etc.
Anyone know the status of San Jose Lawsuits where Trump fans were led into hostile crowds and police did nothing to protect them? There is video of a woman being pelted with eggs and no one was willing to even open a door to defend her. They need to pay!
