Update: Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives secured enough votes on Thursday to pass legislation setting up the next steps in the fast-moving impeachment process involving Republican President Donald Trump.
The vote is the first formal test of support for the inquiry that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi launched on Sept. 24. The impeachment inquiry focuses on whether Trump pressured Ukraine into helping him in his 2020 re-election campaign, a charge the president denies.

WASHINGTON - U.S. lawmakers will cast the first vote on Thursday in the impeachment investigation of President Donald Trump as the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives takes up a measure that sets up the next steps in the fast-moving effort.
The vote will be the first formal test of support for the inquiry launched on Sept. 24. Democrats, who control 234 seats in the 435-seat chamber, need a simple majority to approve the resolution.
The measure calls for public hearings and the release of transcripts from closed-door proceedings. It also outlines what rights Republican lawmakers and Trump himself would have to participate as the process moves ahead.

You may well be right, FD. However I’ve come to the conclusion that many many in the media are just ignorant of government processes, or not very smart, or both. What do you expect of products of government schools? Setting aside bias, a lot of news writers can’t write and editors can’t edit. Either way you slice it, the word “legislation” makes this fake news.
My, how I loathe these people.
Those who believe CNN, MSDNC, etc., will swallow the swill and praise it. Independents are a different story.
The swamp must remain unfettered. No more Trumps and never again one to follow. What? Do Americans think this is some sort of representative republic or something?

Who do you send your donation to? The reason why I ask, is that I would like mine to go directly to the Trump campaign. I’m not particularly interested in funding the RNC for a couple of reasons:
1. Despite the huge amounts of money flowing in, I see no news on what they’re doing about recruiting and funding down ticket candidates;
2. I am still uneasy about about the chair of the RNC, being that she’s Mitt Romney’s niece. It’s the blood is thicker than water thing.

The Pubs could have blown this thing up and when the Dems knew that the Pubs were going to lie down.... the Dems got the votes. I don't blame the Dems. If your enemy is going to collapse on the ground, stomp them into a mud puddle. Not a single 'Good' man in the House could mutter outrage.... because none are.
This is just kabuki theater to say “ you asked us to impeach him” so we are doing that, even though this is just about the rules.
In the end they will have to present actual articles and vote of them.
They will care less about the end result , as they will change the tune to “ we impeached him” the republicans kept him in office.
Now switch to not re-electing him, and getting us the Senate so we can remove him in 2020

So there is no high crime and misdemeanor to impeach, but the Democrats are going through the motion of impeachment?
This sets up a horrible precedent. Anytime a president is elected and the house is the opposition party, the house on inauguration day can start impeachment proceedings.
Sounds like the House will have a voice vote on the resolution, instead of a roll call vote. I can understand why Dems would want to do that...
