Primary Challenges Might Keep These Republican Senators From Voting To Remove Trump

Much has been made about whether Republicans will ever cut ties with President Trump over his attempt to hold up military aid to Ukraine to get political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden. And although there are some signs of the party breaking with Trump, one important reason why we haven’t seen GOP senators break with Trump en masse is because many are up for reelection — in total, there are 23 Republican-held seats up in 2020.

And in five of these races, Republicans face particularly tough reelection battles. Election forecasters have rated these races as the most competitive Senate contests in the 2020 cycle, and in each race, the partisan lean of their states is less than 10 points more Republican than the country as a whole. In fact, in the case of Maine and Colorado, they actually lean slightly Democratic.1 These senators are especially vulnerable in a general election if Trump’s standing declines, but they’re also in a position where they can’t afford to alienate their party’s base.

Or, maybe because the accusation is a lie.

Impeachment-lite v.2 is as farcical as v.1.

Happy to say that House Republicans are giving it all the respect it deserves.

Quote: “(Trump’S) attempt to hold up military aid to Ukraine to get political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden”

This is false. Trump referred to Crowdstrike not Biden. Read the transcript.

It wasn’t a coincidence that Nixon’s impeachment was only starting to move AFTER the primaries were past.

The demography in Arizona has almost turned it into a toss up state.

Black, Native American, Mixed Race, and Asian - 17%

Hispanic - 32%

If the Democrats can get their ethnic supporters to the polls, they will need less than 40% of the white vote to win any state wide election.

List by state of ethnicity in each one.
Varies greatly across the spectrum.

If you make the wall against impeachment that Trump did not ask or put pressure on Ukraine over Biden and his son’s obvious crimes, then you will cause the Senate to remove Trump when the defense fails.

OF COURSE Trump asked for help in getting evidence of the Biden family’s crimes. That’s Trump’s f***ing JOB. In the presence of massive failure and corruption at DOJ, what is Trump, who is responsible for “taking care that the laws be faithfully executed” supposed to do?

Biden’s son was taking bribes to influence our government. Biden himself was threatening the Ukraine government to stop prosecution. BIDEN IS ON YOUTUBE BRAGGING ABOUT IT.

The only defense that is going to keep Trump in office (and it may not work) is, “You’re goddam right I ordered the code red”. He did it, he was right to do it, it was well within the scope of his powers to do it, and the Senate would be reckless to remove him for it.

Thanks for the link.

The Census Bureau has population estimates for July 2018 for all states and for all large counties and large cities.

The data in your link appears to be several years older.

Here’s the Census Bureau link:

https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/US/PST045218

The Census page is not well designed compared to your link.

If you have trouble trying to get your information, ping me, and I will walk you through it.

Some of the categories are deceptively labeled - for instance, “White Only” includes a huge chunk of Hispanics who identify as white.

Your link is constructed much better for research, but for the most recent data, you need the Census page.

These AZ trends are also at work in TX, where the
Republican-led House of Representatives is in shambles.

It couldn’t be they haven’t left Trump because the entire impeachment story is BOGUS.

Even though it isn’t a 1-to-1 correlation, the fact that the Senate was able to get 50 co-sponsors to endorse a non-binding resolution condemning the Democrats’ Impeachment madness, it should send a message to the House that findiing 20 defectors from the GOP Senate ranks is going to be a very tough challenge and, frankly, any senator willing to vote against 94% of their own base deserves to be removed from office.

Say, maybe you should write about all the Democrat House members who won’t join support the impeachment hoax because THEY are up for re-election, particularly many in close races that went for Trump in 2016. Any chance we see THAT story?

ANY Republican Senator who even hints at removing Trump is, at a minimum, in a fight for his political life. He may stay in office if he comes to his senses and figure out that 80% of his votes are from us Trump supporters. If that’s the case, he’ll probably survive.

But for Senators who hate Trump so much that they are willing to vote to remove him...they will soon learn that they are occupying a TOTALLY EMPTY political space. The Republican BASE will be through with them (and they’ll try to primary them out, or, if necessary, they’ll stay at home in November), and the Democrats and Moderates also won’t want to come near them. In other words, the 2020 election will be their last.

So, it’s THEIR CHOICE. Do they want to stay in the Senate?
