California Chaos: Gov. Gavin Newsom grapples with wildfires, blackouts and more (that is his fault)
Fox News ^ | October 29, 2019 | Andrew O'Reilly

Despite coming into office with a budget surplus of around $36 billion and enjoying favorable approval ratings, California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s first year in office has been anything but tranquil.

Newsom, who spent the previous eight years as lieutenant governor to Democrat Jerry Brown, has in the first 10 months of his term had to take the helm in dealing with a slew of pressing issues from a massive homelessness crisis and rising housing costs to sky-high gas prices and decaying roads.

...

Despite acknowledging that it was in part his own responsibility ...

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

When are the sheeple out there going to understand at least some of the reason for all the fires and necessary power outages?

There are natural consequences that can be forecast from decisions that are made.

Voting for Democrat politicians has consequences.

Democrat politicians ignore the duties of the job they are elected to.

They yammer about things that are not in their job description.

They criticize Republicans.

Taking care of business?

Not nearly as important as getting rich or getting their cousin a do nothing government job.

the fault goes back a number of years with CORRUPT politicians of both D and R stripes (one R governor was so paid off people say that he went to “work” in a “cushy, high paid do-almostnothing job” for a major regulated corporation the day after he left his state office)

and of course a “spectacular’ record of corruption at the state’s ‘regulatory” agency (sic)...that goes back for decades

its absolutely amazing just how much governmental favor can be purchased for very very very small sums of cash.. truly this has been a super-successful business strategy for the major utilities

I watched a segment on msnbc this afternoon. They had an extensive report on how these fires are caused by global warming.

I’m an uneducated white deplorable and here is my take on it;

It’s a DESERT
It has two seasons, fire and mud
It has been that way forever.

It shall continue that way forever.

ps: and both D and R (Schwarzenegger the filanderer)
appointed the president of the second-largest utility corporation in California to be president of the California Public (f)Utilities Commission, two terms for this obvious (in many many many people’s opinions at least) corruptoid

and same ‘regulatory commission’ got rid of most of its professional engineering and accountancy staff and forcibly reassigned the few remaining people to work on tiny water companies and reading air quality reports (work that cannot possibly cost the PUC’s patron huge utilities corporation bosses ANY money at all)

the agency even has assigned multi-billion dollar rate increases (rubber stamping them) to non-qualified personnel to “study” to make sure that “staff” cannot discover any serious needed efficiencies or safety improvements.. result is highest rates and about the very worst service in America

but the util execs make millions and the commission managers get all sorts of perks per all reports

corrupt for years and years, its not all Newsom’s making (he’s new in the governor job anyway)... but yes, he’s only talked and done nothing serious to clean anything up

so to be fair, its not Newsom’s fault since he’s new in the job

what’s so depressing, imho, is how the legislature is bought off by all accounts and how almost nobody in the state even said boo or objected in any serious manner when the ‘regulatory’ appointments were made...

the entire Sacramento scene is riddled with corruption including many key politicians... and has been for years (utility corruption in CA goes back into the 1800’s with the railroads and early 1900’s with the electric and gas industries)...

the problem is not confined to the California state capitol.
San Francisco’s corruption goes back into the 1800’s too...indeed right back to the state’s very first decade...
one commentator noted a century ago that “the SF politicians are so damned corrupt that they’d eat the very paint off the walls of city hall if they thought they’d make a nickel’s personal profit from it” (from memory, but that’s very very close)

nobody ever seems to raise much objection so the California corruption continues as SNAFU

budget surplus of around $36 billion

Wait, wait, wait. They are up to their naughty bits in illegal aliens and liberal spending, AND they have a budget surplus? According to the expert on these matters for California, "to each according to his needs." If California has so much extra cash, why does the US Government send any money to California? Sounds like it should be the other way around.

Corruption is not the reason for the wildfires.... cutting of scrub and brush is illegal.... and what starts fires? Dry brush and scrub

Dear voters in the once Golden State.

Do you not understand that the DEMOCRATS (and please ignore their blame-shifting, about which they are so talented) and their policies are responsible for...

1. Increased wildfires,

2. Increased homelessness,

3. Increased drug abuse,

and,

4. Increased violent crime? (Including political unrest?)

(Not trying to sound tinfoilish, but just look at the records.)

do you live here? I do...

what’s most annoying is not the crises themselves but the ignorance of people towards them.

people blame: climate change for the out of control fires.
capitalism for the rampant homelessness.

They make ZERO connection to all our problems and the utter ineptitude and corruption of the leftists in power.

*eyeroll*

I’ve got news for you, Gavin. If California continues its descent into the Third World and madness, things are going to get a lot worse.

“When are the sheeple out there going to understand”

I ask myself that question every day. Does history contain many examples of a populace suddenly “awakening”? Spontaneous epiphanies? Or must everything burn down, hopefully to be rebuilt one day? Any historians out there care to comment?

Government run utilities mean that the politicians get the blame when things go wrong.
