This Impeachment Subverts the Constitution
Wall Street Journal via MSN ^ | Oct. 26, 2019 | David B. Rivkin, Jr. @ Elizabeth Price Foley

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed committees investigating President Trump to “proceed under that umbrella of impeachment inquiry,” but the House has never authorized such an inquiry. Democrats have been seeking to impeach Mr. Trump since the party took control of the House, though it isn’t clear for what offense. Lawmakers and commentators have suggested various possibilities, but none amount to an impeachable offense. The effort is akin to a constitutionally proscribed bill of attainder—a legislative effort to punish a disfavored person. The Senate should treat it accordingly.

Thanks for posting the article.

Nancy has said now that she converted her copy of the Constitution to toilet paper sized sheets her rear end feels better lately.

Let’s see if we can change that.

Right in line with all the other socialistic crap. Would be nice if for a chance they would care about this country, but that’s not in their playbook.

It isn’t clear why they have been seeking impeachment since he was elected?
WTF?

THEY HATE THAT THEY CANNOT CONTROL HIM! HE DOESN”T NEED THEM!

Now, with that cleared up...

They intend to use OBSTRUCTION as a HIGH CRIME OR MISDEMEANOR to fulfill the Constitutional requirement for Impeachment.
And, they will document EVERY instance of whatever they deem to be ‘obstruction’ to make their case.

Russia? Trump obstructed the investigation on many occasions, including remarks about Mueller, Comey, McCabe, an others.
FISA Court? Trump obstructed the issues by firing Comey.
The Wall? Trump obstructed Congressional attempts to defund the work, etc.
The INQUIRY? Trump obstructed near every attempt to have someone from the administration testify before Schiff’s Kangaroo Court.

They will hang their hats on OBSTRUCTION to impeach this duly elected President.
They will, also, unleash the full fury of the great Silent Majority out here in fly over country.
It will be shortest Civil War in human history...

In fact Congress voted it DOWN three times...How can they start up an impeachment inquiry in opposition to the voice of Congress???

This faux impeachment is a test to see if the demonrats can actually get away with this. They are learning what the general public will and will not take from their actions. The strategy was not because it was Trump, the strategy has always been if the demonrats lost power, controlled only one part of the legislative branch, and stacked the courts, could they throw out a sitting President, whomever it may be. This is an exercise to been seen if it succeeds to be accelerated the next time any person other than a demonrat gains the White House. This isn’t about Trump as Trump is the scapegoat, this is about something else in its entirety. This is not about the Gore loss nor the Clinton Impeachment. This isn’t about Hitlary losing. This is the strategic plan to overthrow the Executive branch at will by the demonrat party. The call for impeaching Trump went out long before election night in 2016. That voice was squashed because it came too early. Comey, Clapper and Brennan were following much a much higher power and the insurance policy had been in the works no matter which repube won office. If you look at the early, very early, tweets they do not mention Trump. The so-called insurance policy had been in the works for years. What is going on is Chicago-land politics and its being played out in front the American people.

The hate for Trump was never about Trump, it came for the hate of the right. The guy/gal who won was going to be the du jour scapegoat for that vitriol. When people start to wake up about this aspect of what is going on and see the bird in the forest, then and only then can we start to recover from this nightmare. The repubes will eventually try to mount a revenge campaign, but it won’t work because they are fighting an ideology not a person. That is why the war on terrorism has failed miserably. It is why the repubes will fail miserably. The demonrats are already 10 steps ahead and that might be 10 steps too much for America.

This article says what I've been saying for awhile.

I've been calling for Roberts to declare a summary judgment, with a directed verdict to acquit, stating that the articles of impeachment are flawed, that they are based on unproven hearsay by biased witnesses, that the procedures that produced them in the House were illegitimate and violated due process, that there were no "high crimes and misdemeanors" committed by the President, and that the nation would be severely harmed by proceeding with this when an election is less than a year away.

I came to the same conclusion. This is a very disturbing thing...the Democrats are playing a very dangerous game. However it looks like Pelosi is about to flinch and call for a vote.

They just realized that this was Hillary’s plan for Nixon...which was called unconstitutional as it denied Nixon right to counsel during the inquiry.

The old cigarette ad aimed at feminists smoking was: You've come a long way, baby.

Young Hillary couldn't destroy Nixon but today her filthy dream is coming true with Trump. No witnesses, cross examination, legal counsel or facing his accusers.

The effort is akin to a constitutionally proscribed bill of attainder****

Which is not allowed to be used against a President.

Which is one reason they will not go that route.

I agree.

IF PDJT holds funds from going overseas then who will be lining the pocket of these US politicians.

The country that promised these politicians the world will now back out of the backroom deals, if not subsidized by our American tax dollar.

Impeachment is vague, the HOR can do anything the majority wants.

The trial phase is where due process, discovery, cross-examination of the evidence, etc... occurs which is why the Chief Justice sits over the darn process, so that the rules are fair. Not so in the HOR.

Problem for the HOR is that there are two recent examples of Presidents being impeached which followed a bipartisan precedent conducted fairly since Nixon's as well as Clinton's defense teams were allowed to participate in the House's inquiries.

Democrats scoffed at the precedent and are operating unethical as well as sinister manner. Most of their voters either support unethical and sinister tactics or they are too stupid/don't care (The majority of their voters) to understand because all they want are taxpayers' gibs.
