A mass shooting has left at least two dead and more than a dozen injured at a homecoming party in Greenville, just northeast of Dallas, local officials and witnesses say. Only few details are currently available.
The incident happened just after midnight on Sunday when officers were called for an active shooter at The Party Venue on Highway 380 in Greenville, a city in Hunt County. Details about what happened were not immediately known.
According to initial reports, there are up to 20 gunshot victims, including multiple fatalities and serious injuries. Jason Whitely, a reporter for local ABC affiliate WFAA, said at least two people were killed and more than 12 others were injured.
A large number of emergency services, including air ambulances, were called to the scene of the shooting. There was no immediate comment from local authorities about the number of victims, and the status of the suspect(s) is unknown.
A homecoming party from Texas A&M University Commerce was reportedly taking place at the time of the shooting. WFAA-TV said the shooting involved a .227 caliber rifle. A motive is unknown.
Greenville is about 45 miles (72 kilometers) northeast of Dallas.
If the shooter is white it will be a hate crime. If the shooter is “of color” it will just be another Saturday night in the hood. Interestingly something similar happen in Cape Girardeau at a ‘private’ after-prom party. Over fifty rounds fired from at least three different weapons. No one was hit. The city tried and failed to shut down the party ‘venue’. Although local media carefully omitted any mention of race, it was a black party.
Consumers of modern American media now have to fill in several blanks themselves to figure out the real story—not unlike readers of Pravda.

According to this, cops were already on the scene before the shooting started.
“The shooting began around 15 minutes after deputies arrived outside the venue, responding to reports of illegal parking.
Deputies heard gunshots coming from the back of the building but could not tell whether the shots were fired from inside or outside, Oxford said.”
