PITTSBORO, N.C. (AP) Police in North Carolina say they've arrested two people after a "physical altercation" at a protest over a Confederate statue slated to be removed.
The Chatham County Sheriff's Office said Saturday it arrested Calvin James Megginson and Timothy James Osborn on charges related to the altercation. Both were released and are due in court next month.
A pro-Confederate group is trying to stop removal of the statue, which has been stationed outside the county courthouse in Pittsboro since 1907.which has been stationed outside the county courthouse in Pittsboro since 1907.

The name of the group is United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), which is the same group who donated the statue to the town of Pittsboro NC 100 years ago. It would accurate to identify them as pro-Confederate, don't you agree?
I agree, technically, if the purpose was to construct agitprop.
There is no Confederacy. No one is conspiring for a return of the Confederacy, thank God!
AP has a recent history of bias! This is just another example....

I cant BELIEVE how easily the south let the statues fall. In most cases, the people who agitated for that action were outsiders, not residents of the cities (and sometimes entire states) where the monuments were located. RevCom types, among others. And our schools are churning these people out, for decades now.

I cant BELIEVE how easily the south let the statues fall. A great shame on all the country. A sacrilege and and a willful deletion of history.
Special blame goes to state and fed legislatures which ran and hid to avoid their precious sinecures.
The National Guard should have been called out!
Obama of course was all too eager to see it happen.

Until it went down I was a regular of the Chatham County BBS (I have family in the area). They posted a series of threads about the Pittsboro monument including a couple of straw polls that showed decisive favor to keeping it. The council has done all they can to ignore the will of the locals.

Consider also that at least some of the monuments already removed were on the National Historic Register, supposedly protected by federal law. "Selective Enforcement" should be our new national motto.
Yes, I'm sure that few events of Obama's years in office were more gratifying to him.

Lol..there is zero evidence George Soros is involved here, so raising his name in this context is a red herring.

If Chatham county residents don’t like what their local BOC is doing they can damn well vote them out of office.
Until then, keep your damn fool mouth shut.

And yet these Commierats NEVER once push to have Klan recruiter Sinner Robert Sheets Byrds (D-KKK) name removed from ANYTHING.And yet these Commierats NEVER once push to have Klan recruiter Sinner Robert Sheets Byrds (D-KKK) name removed from ANYTHING.
Actually, there was an online petition circulating to have Byrd's name removed from buildings in West Virginia.
I don't know who was behind it, but it's hard to believe that Antifa groups have any love for Robert Byrd.
They aren't Biden Democrats.

I grew up in Chatham County, NC just a few miles from Pittsboro. It was a wonderful area with great friendly people. About three years ago, Northerners began to move down here to escape the high taxes levied by the Democrat politicians in New York and other cities and states. They ran for political offices down here and now hold the majority of the Chatham County Commissioners seats. Since then, everything has started to go downhill. Sad.
Same thing here. And they read the same newspapers they read back home, and vote the same way. Our local newspaper prints articles from the NYT and WaComPost. They are trashing our area like they did where they came from.

Antifa is a funny name. They would’ve been out there with Seeger and Gutherie protesting AGAINST the United States going to war against Adolf Hitler because Hitler had made a pact with Stalin.
