Trump Says He Was ‘Not Involved’ in DOJ’s Criminal Investigation Into Origins of Russia Probe
The Epoch Times ^ | 26 Oct 2019 | JANITA KAN

President Donald Trump said he was not involved in the Justice Department’s decision to expand their review of the surveillance of the Trump campaign into a criminal investigation.

News of the department’s decision to open a criminal probe into the origins of the Obama administration’s counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign was first reported by the New York Times and the Associated Press on Thursday. U.S. Attorney John Durham had been reviewing the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation since May this year.

Trump, who has been an outspoken critic of the intelligence community’s decision to investigate his campaign for ties with Russia in 2016, told “America This Week” that Durham’s decision to open the investigation was “not his mandate.”

“I’m not involved in it from the standpoint of it’s not my mandate,” Trump said. “But it’s obviously Bill Barr’s mandate. He’s a great attorney general and a lot of terrible things, I would say, happened and they’re going to find out.”

Trump said that he thinks Durham will “find a lot” in his criminal probe that would support the president’s previous claims that the previous administration was targeting him during the last presidential election.

Trump refused to comment on the speculation that former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan could be called as witnesses to testify in investigation, but said he thought that they were “very bad people” and “very bad for the country.”

Well, that's that. No need for recusals or any other legal gymnastics over this one.

Whether directly or indirectly, he is a huge part of the story, therefore, it involves him.

The fraud was perpetrated against him, and he has the right to ask for the investigation against those who cooked up the fraud. He might not have directly called for the criminal investigation, but there would have been absolutely nothing wrong with him asking to have the investigation done. He is/was the victim of the fraud, as well as the whole country, and as the chief law enforcement office of the land, there is nothing wrong with asking for the investigation.

In this matter he's in a unique position that can only be held by ONE person -- the President of the United States.

The person who is ultimately responsible for adjudicating crimes of this sort is the U.S. Attorney General, who reports to the President of the United States.

The President of the United States is Donald Trump -- who also happens to be the VICTIM in this case.

It doesn't get any more outlandish than that, does it?

It doesn’t matter if he was. As chief law enforcement officer he has a right to get involved. And as a victim of a crime.

So outlandish Hollywood will refuse to make a movie about it.

I’m sure he asked for the investigation, but I’m equally sure he did not mandate a CRIMINAL investigation.

I’d bet he knew it would end up there, however!

“So outlandish Hollywood will refuse to make a movie about it.”

Not necessarily. History is written by the winners. Whether the deep state and Hollywood establishments win will be determined over the next five years.

Exactly right!

If a president thinks such an investigation is warranted, he should mandate it.

For political reasons he should not be involved in the investigation, at least not overtly.l

Too bad. Because the president is the chief law enforcement official in the country. It would be kind of nice for him to flop his crank on the table and do some Alpha stuff.

A lot of people are getting tired of this deep State bullcrap

Knowing Trump, he probably said “follow the evidence” and that is what has been happening.

This shows that Barr is exponentially superior to Sessions and all the Q morons that delayed things for 2 years.

I suspect that Q is deep state and was meant to placate our side into waiting until people could say “it was the past”.

Yup. Q existed to make boomers complacent and “trusting the plan” so Dems could take the house in 2018. Why vote when mysterious white hats are taking care of everything and leaving stupid cryptic clues on a spin off message board for autistic anime dorks?

The issue isn’t whether he was involved. It’s how good the evidence is.
