The host said he thinks that speculation of a Hillary Clinton presidential run is damaging the ability of Democrats to successfully beat President Trump in 2020.
It seems like every few months, Hillary Clinton bubbles up again, and people are, like, Oh, shes thinking about running, or she says something crazy, Maher said.
The Clintons theyve gotta go away. Im saying this now a year out They cant be at the convention, he continued. Maybe waving or something"...And Bill is damaged goods, Maher said of the former president.
Maher also repeated comments from conservative former Republican Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan that Hillary Clinton is a Donald Trump asset.

“It seems like every few months, Hillary Clinton bubbles up again,”
Isn’t that a characteristic of a festering herpes sore?
Sill can’t stomach that POS.
I get tired of these Leftists that toss out givens as if they are the truth.
Trump is not a narcissist - he’s a man that has to be and act confident - he’s president of the U. S. and leader of the free world
Trump is not crazy - he’s actually a very bright man and has implemented fixes so complex 95% of the Left can’t even grasp them - heck 60% of those on the Right can’t
I agree. Maher makes good points about Dem foolishness but he underestimates Trump, to say the least.
So do a lot of others like Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and a number of others from 2016 still desperately seeking to rehab their image.
A lot of folks aren’t buying it, here and elsewhere.
At the start of the 2016 primaries I underestimated Trump too. I thought he was a game show host and not much more. But it was hard to not like a guy who took the smirks off the pompous media characters’ faces. And then I started to realize that he could change the world in a good way, with very little help from the establishment GOP.
I would like to think folks were smart enough to figure things out sooner than that, but we can all see the same things and come away with different interpretations. I get that.
Even before Convention time though, it was clear he was the man for the job > IMO. He also had the delegates, so the wholesome (?) debate was over at that point.
So it really became self-defeating for Conservatives to pound Trump when it was certain Hillary would be the opposing candidate.
We HAD TO win in November. There was no alternative for our nation at that point.
Those that didn’t exhibit an understanding of this at that point really pounded home to me their lack of understanding the Conservative dynamic, or the real Hillary Clinton, and what she represented.
I can’t begin to imagine how that woman would have torn our nation apart. In effect, a combination George Soros and Saul Alinsky would have been president.
Add to that the dynamic that surrounded Hillary and Bill’s former friends and associates, and it’s borderline terrifying what could have taken place.
Look how bad it is in Congress and on the streets with now every with Trump. Imagine it all without him.
