Graham Says Senate Resolution Condemning Impeachment Inquiry Has 50 Co-Sponsors

Fifty U.S. senators have signed onto a resolution condemning the House impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Friday.

On Thursday, Graham said he was introducing a resolution into the Senate that is critical of the way House Democrats are conducting the investigation while calling for the lower body of Congress to hold a formal vote. During a press conference, Graham said there were 41 senators who were signing onto the measure.

Now, there are 50 co-sponsors, he confirmed on Twitter.

In order to pass, the resolution would need at least 60 votes in the Senate.

Three Republicans have not signed onto the measure, and they are Sens. Mitt Romney of Utah, Susan Collins of Maine, and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.

“I’d like to see a vote taken in the House to decide whether there is support for impeachment. I’d love to see a more open process,” Romney said through a spokesperson, The Hill reported.

“Senator Murkowski hasn’t yet reviewed the Graham resolution yet. So she will review the resolution before making a determination,” CNN quoted a Murkowski spokesperson as saying.

Recently, Collins indicated that the impeachment process is problematic.

The House’s conduct is “entirely inappropriate” and Democrats have already “made up their minds,” Collins said, The Hill reported.

Romney shouting follow me, follow me!
Looks around and sees a mostly empty room.

“Well, Pierre Delecto is gonna tweet about this, I’ll tell ya.”

I figured Romney, the other two have been fighting the Prez on everything he supports. Don’t know what their problems are.

Romney is a really mentally sick person. He is now totally destroyed himself in politics. Still probably have his Mormons but that is about it.

50-50 split, then Mike Pence casts the deciding vote. I feel confident that he would vote with the other real Republicans.

Susan Collins has done very well from a blue state.

Recall her powerful presentation in favor of Kavanaugh.

Her less than 100% support from Maine is far superior to the 100% opposition from Maine we would get with a Dem senator.

If you want her to be more supportive, then buy a plane ticket and travel to Maine and persuade people there to be red, not blue.

What will get interesting is if the House goes through with impeachment and sends it to the Senate, these 50 Senators will have a VERY TOUGH TIME voting to convict, since they’re now on record saying that the process against Trump is RIGGED.

In other words, even if some of them think Trump is guilty and should be removed, they will have to either vote to acquit, or at least vote to send it back to the House to start over and do it right, the second time.

I’m not sure if all 50 Senators understand that right now, but they will if it gets that far.

Not exactly. The GOP Senate could make it political untenable to proceed by holding public hearings and validating Trump’s concerns. Biden Jr. taking the 5th would have ended this phone call nonense immediately.

POTUS will be impeached only because the GOP has given top cover to the House Dems and their Deep State coupist allies. Since McConnell and Graham continue to green light House proceedings I can only assume they don’t care if Trump is impeached.

The GOP Senate will have a tough time voting to convict but a very easy time stabbing POTUS in the back and demanding a “bipartisan” review of the charges. That will tie up Senate business for weeks if not months.

Murkowski Collins and Delecto. In the end Delecto will be ridiculed into the nothingness of irrelevance for this stunt. Collins will be mocked and lose her seat if she doesn’t move. Murkowski will be marginalized by the new Alabama Senator’s presence. In the rubble of what will be left of the Democrat party Manchin will de facto switch and help in this fight.

If we are going to support Collins regardless then she has no reason to be more supportive of POTUS. See how it works? The more we support her the less she supports us since our votes are already in the bank.

I followed your “logic” and voted GOP ticket my whole life in California. And what did it get me now? Nothing. MY former state is now a one party state run by Demofascists.

We need to accept the ugly truth that GOP like Collins and Romney prefer progressive Democrats and their policies to the wishes of GOP voters who elect them.

DEAD ON! She votes 95% (at least) with Trump on judges. Just that alone puts her WAY AHEAD of any Democrat, ANY DEMOCRAT, including Joe Manchin.

Something to think about when it’s timing for another bitching session.
