9 GOP Senators Refuse to Condemn House Impeachment
The Hill ^ | October 24, 2019

Posted on 10/25/2019 2:13:00 AM PDT by Helicondelta

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is spearheading the resolution, which is backed by 44 GOP senators including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Graham, during a press conference with reporters, lashed out the House impeachment inquiry calling it a "secret proceeding" and a "rogue action" that "denies due process."

"The process in the House today I think is a danger to the future of the presidency," Graham told reporters.

He argued that under the current procedure Trump was "pretty much shut out," adding "God help future presidents."

The GOP senators not cosponsoring the resolution as of Thursday afternoon, according to a list from Graham's office, are: Sens. Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.), Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Rob Portman (R-Ohio).

“But, but, we GOTTA hold our noses & vote for the the (R) that’ll WIN.”

*Wins* > principles. Doesn’t matter the RINOs will side w/ the Left 90% of the time; and the 10% they DON’T doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.

“I wonder if this means the impeachment will be successful?”

If the House has the votes (which I think it does) to impeach Trump and carries it out then impeachment will be successful. Trump will forever be known as the 3rd President to be impeached.

I think what you mean is whether the Senate will vote to remove Trump from office. Nine Republican traitors is not enough for that. The dems would need 11 more or so by my count.

I get so p***** that these cowards do not support their President. They’re supposed to be on the same side. Collins and Murkowski...again team up....just like the women on the Supreme Court....They just don’t think about the people....it’s all about them.

Yes, that is what I meant. Sorry, I should have been more clear on that. It didn’t hurt Slick Willie much, did it? If I recall, he was disbarred, since he really was guilty of wrong doing. That STILL didn’t hurt him.

Sullivan is on the list supporting the resolution. There are 53 GOP senators with 46 signed on to the resolution leaving seven that need to be “convinced” to co- sponsor the resolution.

Everyone needs to understand that such resolutions are absolutely meaningless. It’s an empty gesture giving cover to senate Republicans who, for the most part, have not been supportive of President Trump. Where are the hearings Graham promised early this year at the time he assumed the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee?

Five of these 9 are no surprise, as for the other 4 - I don’t know them that well, let the people who elected them speak out.

But for whatever reason(s) these 9 gave, they are all spineless DC creatures that is the exact reason Trump got elected to clean swamp.

Except for Romney, there is absolutely NO excuse (Utah, looking at you) to vote Willard in after Trump took office.

I would argue that impeachment did hurt Bill Clinton. But the main impact of impeachment is long term. Years from now the only thing Clinton and Trump will be remembered for is that they were both impeached.

Isakson is gone at the first of the year and yes, he is pretty much brain dead. I guess his staff can’t hide it anymore. He never has taken a stand on any issue anyway.

The 9 Senators might not support impeachment. They might just not want to condemn an investigation.

Chances are that an out-in-the-open investigation will damage the Democrats.

If Trump is ousted, do these fools actually think any of Trump’s millions of supporters will ever vote for a republican again? Or ever have faith in voting at all? You can stick a fork in the party if they impeach Trump.

Remember when Chuck Shumer Said, you don't mess with the intelligence community, “Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday to get back at you."
Between the FBI, CIA, and the State Department, (Not to mention nearly every Harvard lawyer in DC) President Trump sure has his hands full...

Spit Romney. That’s the best name for that prick.

Zit Romney. Like a big throbbing festering boil that needs to be lanced.

A resolution is not much, but it us more than nothing.

Number of Republicans signing on is important.

Wording us important.

Most of the reluctant are probably fussing about the wording or are concerned about other issues.

Such as the obvious democrat demand that they ‘recuse for having prejudged’ the issue’
