Townhall ^ | October 13, 2019 | John R. Lott, Jr.

Democrats used to argue that once felons had served their time, they had paid their debt to society and should be able to vote. Now, after Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) earlier this year argued for felons to vote while they are in prison, even for those who have committed the most horrible crimes, other Democrats have picked up the cause.

Since Felons by definition do not have the smallest qualm violating other peoples rights, I wonder what party they tend to vote for

Once a guy wraps up his prison time and probation....I don’t see a need to hinder the guy on his vote. We only got into this mess because it was physically impossible to allow prison ‘members’ a chance to vote.

In Illinois, many state prisons are in the boonies. The prison population could well equal or surpass the non-incarcerated population. Some gang leader moves down from Chicago, establishes residency and is now runs for county sheriff. What could go wrong?

I admit I don’t know any felons personally now that I absolutely refuse to deal with Democrats.

The problem I see is the corrections administration.

Democrats will find the missing votes every time when they lose a close election.

It is bad idea to allow government employees who have life and death control to monitor voting. Hey junior want an extra hour at the gym? Vote for Bernie!

Corruption pure and simple.

If DC lets felons vote while in prison, they should also let them carry guns. Not handguns, but rifles and shotguns.

In Maine which has for a long time allowed voting from prison, you use your last municipality prior to being incarcerated.

When I worked on voter lists I would see local residents with a Warren Maine P.O. box or 50 County Way, Portland, Me. I would block them in the file. Voter files list a resident address and a mailing address.
