Qatar, the world's leading exporter of liquefied natural gas, may be able to cool its stadiums, but it cannot cool the entire country. Fears that the hundreds of thousands of soccer fans might wilt or even die while shuttling between stadiums and metros and hotels in the unforgiving summer heat prompted the decision to delay the World Cup by five months. It is now scheduled for November, during Qatar's milder winter.

I wonder how Qatar would fare in a war where the opponent could take out the infrastructure that makes life possible in a sun-blasted sandbox?
The answer is “Not very well.” Qatar has been writing terrorist checks it cannot cash.
Years ago, in Popular Science, IIRC, there was an article that explained that if you built a very tall cooling tower, like Nuclear Power plants use, but way taller, and exit holes at the bottom, then pumped water to the top and misted it into the tower, the resulting effect would be falling cool air that would then cool the surrounding desert with cool moist winds..............

They cast the exact right people for every part.

If I Recall Correctly (IIRC), Qatar’s winning bid was very lucrative (bribes) to the nabobs of the World Cup!
Jethro Bodine was involved with some People that proposed building giant Fans on the Mountaintops of Southern CA to blow the Smog away.
They never got it done though. Their Banker Mr. Drysdale wasn’t going for it.
