Attempts to build a multicultural society in Germany have "utterly failed", Chancellor Angela Merkel says.
She said the so-called "multikulti" concept - where people would "live side-by-side" happily - did not work, and immigrants needed to do more to integrate - including learning German.
The comments come amid rising anti-immigration feeling in Germany.
A recent survey suggested more than 30% of people believed the country was "overrun by foreigners".
The study - by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation think-tank - also showed that roughly the same number thought that some 16 million of Germany's immigrants or people with foreign origins had come to the country for its social benefits.

I don’t run a country, and in fact, I don’t run anything, but even I, along with thousands of FReepers, could have told her it wouldn’t work. And it was OBVIOUS it couldn’t work, right from the start. Yet she stubbornly promoted itl, and actually punished her people for complaining, while they were raped, murdered, stolen from, and otherwise abused.
Now. How’s she going to fix a problem that has no desire to, nor intention of, being fixed? Good luck with THAT one, Angela.
I suggest what’s left of her native Germans, fire her @#$, and find a leader who can manage to be a nationalist, without becoming a Nazi.
I was in grade school in the 60's when the 'mosaic' was introduced to replace the melting pot. I didn't understand it then, and I don't understand it now.

Two strong cultures can not exist as equal within the same boundaries. One has to be dominate.
As the west weakens their culture with PC and multiculturalism the Muslim consolidate their group and gain power. One primary difference between the two cultures is that one is willing (and able) to kill without mercy those that they don’t like.
When the time is right, the Muslims will rise up and attempt to take over Europe.
My wife is from the Ukraine and that former Lenin Pioneer is a strong anti-communist who loves Trump. But I and she are not for legal immigration. We’re being flooded. The Democrats love that. For every Slovenian, Ukrainian, and Latvian anti-communists there are ten Nigerians, Somalians, Mexicans, and Syrians who will vote Dem.
She admitted this years ago - then threw open the doors and let in over 1.5 million new leeches.
The hubris is astounding. Think about how self-important you would have to feel to think that you can experiment with society? I have called them solutionists for 40 years. People who think that have to fix something, always a hammer in search of a nail. Pray that your child grows up in a boring, traditional family in a run-of-the-mill neighborhood in an old and boring country. The alternative can be a nightmare.
Alas for the social reformers, the virtue signaling and the feeling good about oneself have worn off and what is left is a useless and frequently hostile cultural invasion. And it isn’t going anywhere. Past the first generation they’re German, and the social welfare structure they were supposed to support through working is creaking like an overloaded bridge under a load of dead weight.
She may have seen the light but the power is failing and that light is going out. How does she propose to get rid of the invaders now> Or is she saying this with a snicker of triumph? i.e. multiculturalism has “failed” but her project for transforming Germany into a third world country with a tiny super wealthy elite is now irreversible.

It’s a good observation, and not far from the mark. All social upheaval has its nexus with a group that has had a revolutionary spirit for 2,000 years and counting now.
Multiculturalism and Diversity will always fail when confronted with Unity.

I grew up in a town where most of my friends were first or second generation Americans. Our grandparents were mainly from eastern Europe. The old folks spoke the old language, and (somewhat) clung to the old ways.
And they held old-world animosities. (You wouldn’t want to get my Hungarian grandparents started about the Romanians, for example.)
Here’s the thing. All of that was gone in the grandchildren. 100% assimilation.
But the opposite is true with Muslims. Many studies have should that the children of Muslim immigrants are, in general, more radical and less tolerant then their parents. Here’s one such study out of the UK.

Yeah... I recall many years ago pre-Internet whiling away the afternoon in the library at school. I was reading a book dealing with the quatrains of Nostradamus, and I vaguely recall a quatrain or two referencing the eventual over-running of, and brutal subjugation of Europe by... “asians”... whodathunkit?
