Former Fox host Greta Van Susteren blasted Fox News anchor Chris Wallace for claiming that a well-connected Republican, who spoke anonymously, told him there is a 20 percent chance that enough Senate Republicans may vote to remove President Donald Trump during an impeachment trial.
In order to remove a president, more than two-thirds of the Senate would have to vote during the trial.
There seems to be a growing number of Republicans in Congress who are, if not breaking with the president, distancing themselves from the president, Wallace said on the show on Sunday. You had Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader who wrote a scathing article about Syria this week. His comments were picked up by other media outlets, including The Hill.
And I talked to a very well-connected Republican in Washington this week, somebody whose name you would know well, who says that if the House votes to impeach and it gets to a trial in the Senate, there is now a 20 percent chance he believesobviously, its just an estimatenow a 20 percent chance enough Republicans will vote with the Democrats to remove the president, he said.
On Monday, Van Susteren wrote on Twitter that Wallace should know better than to use anonymous sources and questioned what well-connected even meant.
He should name names or not say this at all as without the identity (what is a well connected??) its purpose is merely to smear and cause trouble name names or dont say this at all, she wrote.
It has been considered highly unlikely that many Republicans would back the impeachment of Trump. Sen. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has expressed displeasure over the House Democrat-led impeachment push, saying they are finally indulging in their three-year-old impeachment obsession. Full steam ahead.

On the other hand, it could be a real problem.
Trump is seriously interfering with the ‘order of business’ that these politicians depend on for their ‘real’ money, not to be confused with the piddley $150k salaries.
Things are easy when all they have to do is go along with a war that is basically invisible to John and Joan Q. Public.
Now, to keep troops in hot zone, they will need to go on record as voting for it.
All the while, their industrial masters dangle their future ‘consulting’ jobs in front of them, for the money the dispense from the public coffers now.
Trump is becoming a real pain to everyone who wants things to return to ‘normal’ asap.
If his phony source says 20% of Senate Republicans would vote to convict Trump, the other side of that number is that 80% of the Republicans are NOT leaning towards convicting Trump in a Senate trial.
But the 80% number doesn't agree with Wallace's narrative to get rid of Trump.
RE: Son Of A Postman.
Ignore the man. He’s not in public office ANYWHERE.
we all know what a well-connected Republican is. Pick any RINO.
“Chris Wallace = Far left and loony”
I don’t think he is far left. I think he is deep state.

Let’s look at Wallace’s worst case scenario...
The Republicans control the Senate 53-47.
You need 67 votes to remove Trump.
20% of 53 is at most, 11 votes.
Let’s say Wallace is correct.... That makes at most, 11 Republicans willing to remove Trump.
47 Dems + 11 Republicans = 58 votes. Still WAY SHORT of 67 votes for removal.
Is Greta trolling for another job at Fox..?
Here is a bit of info on her, her family and her husband.
Van Susteren’s sister, Lise, is a forensic psychiatrist in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2006, Lise was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for United States Senate.
Her brother, Dirk Van Susteren, was a journalist and long-time editor of the Vermont Sunday magazine, jointly published, until folding in 2008, by the Rutland Herald and the Barre Montpelier Times Argus.
During the President Clinton impeachment debate, Van Susteren dismissed the issue as one of an unfaithful husband, and not an impeachable offense, even though Clinton lied under oath, an impeachable offense.
On September 6, 2016, she resigned from Fox News. She was not able to say goodbye on-air, as the network immediately filled the On the Record anchor spot with Brit Hume. Van Susteren, who said that Fox “has not felt like home to me for a few years,” chose to take advantage of a clause in her contract that allowed her to resign from the network immediately: “The clause had a time limitation, meaning I could not wait.”
Van Susteren married tort lawyer John P. Coale in 1988. She and her husband are Scientologists.
Bhopal Coale, John P. Coale is an Ambulance Chaser married for decades with Greta Van Susteren. His career, battle with cancer and relationship with his wife
In the early 1980s, John opted to become a Scientologist. He revealed that he opted this to overcome his drug problems.
Johns other big case is said to be the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement in 1998. It is said that he was one of the principal negotiators of the case. Five of the largest tobacco companies had agreed to pay $10 billion for 46 states. There was also the negotiation on how to market their products and ban the marketing for kids. This was his last case because, after this case, he retired from his profession.
John P. Coale Fought Throat Cancer
Johns cancer was diagnosed by throat cancer in December 2012 and had around five surgeries in the year 2013.
Thanks to Greta, for calling out Chris Wallace’s contempt for POTUS.
She also was very fair and courteous to people like Franklin Graham and Sarah Palin and family. Behavior which is normally unheard of in MSM circles anymore.
Epoch Times is a refreshing addition to the sites I go for REAL NEWS.
It provides straightforward information that is all one needs to make judgments and opinions.
I go there every day.
Thanks ET.
Oh, I always thought Greta was a real professional.
Nice if she went back to Fox. They could use her now.
What a couple of losers.
Like.
No surprise that Wallace would use a smear tactic.
Recall that it was Wallace-Baier-Kelly who planned to ‘take Trump out’ at the first presidential debate in 2016. They even bragged about it before the debate and regretted their failure to do so after the debate.
Chris Wallace was a regular on Howie Carr until a few years ago when he admitted have a ‘man crush’ on Mitt Romney and Howie used it in his promos.
Wasn’t John Edwards(AKA Silky Pony)also one of the lawyers involved in the tobacco settlement?
I think that is how he made his big bucks before running for US Senator from NC.
During the President Clinton impeachment debate, Van Susteren dismissed the issue as one of an unfaithful husband, and not an impeachable offense, even though Clinton lied under oath, an impeachable offense.
~~~
Amazing how few people get this right, including in the professional/political world.
Clinton not only lied under oath, he commuted obstruction. The legit kind of obstruction of justice, not the crap we hear about today, where he asked a witness to give false testimony.
I thought the interview of Malveney was tough but fair except for that portion....unless there is something else in the impeachment saga the senate will not convict.
I do see a few/couple of republicans voting for impeachment.
Greta pretty well embodied the late great “fair and balanced” philosohy at Fox. She was smart enough to realize that having a clear bias would limit her audience and success.
Unlike Wallace who is a thinly-disguised partisan at best and completely in-the-tank at worst. No one would describe him as “fair and balanced”.
HOORAY Greta!
