Former CIA Director and retired US Army Gen. David Petraeus said on Sunday the United States betrayed its longstanding ally in its fight against ISIS, the Syrian Kurds, by withdrawing US forces from the northern part of the country.
Petraeus, who previously oversaw military operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, criticized President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw US forces from northern Syria on CNN's "State of The Union."
"Well, I think we have abandoned our Syrian Kurdish partners. They took over 10,000 losses as the defeat of Islamic State was carried out," he told CNN's Jake Tapper. "The elimination of the caliphate that ISIS had certainly with our advice and assistance and enabling and then very suddenly, this is not a phased deliberate plan withdrawal, this is a very sudden exit."

Im inclined to ignore anything I hear from a senior military leader who never won a war.
Patreaus betrayed US!!!
To easy.
The Syrians have stepped up to defend the Kurds.
No one wants to mention that. Maybe the media doesn’t allow them to.
That is a long=lasting solution, unlike our support.
Another rent-a-general. Which defense contractor is he working for? These guys are on Fox News all the time. They love sending other people to fight and die in wars that have nothing to do with US security. Gotta keep those orders coming in for replacement weapons and equipment.
O 00 the brilliant General who brought us nation building in the Mideast just brilliant Big Shot General who screwed up Afghanistan so bad we don’t need to hear from this jerk anymore he can go back to his mistress
Did you and Paula Broadwell explain that theory to YOUR partner General.....your wife?
Do you want to know what betrayal really is General? It’s recruiting young men who are brought up as Patriots but without a political sense of what is or isn’t in America’s interests, training them to fight in foreign wars of questionable value, watch them be maimed or killed and say thank you for your service to the elites of this country who equate national security with American economic and political dominance around the world.
Didn’t he betray his wife? Just asking.
Absolutely PERFECT reply!! I guess the Kurds are more important than his wife was when it comes to betrayal, honestly these ASSHATS should really just keep their mouths shut their true hypocrisy comes shining through!!!
There are 200 other countries. Let one of them do it
He’s currently a “professor” at some eastern state University. Can’t recall which. Not that it matters.
The Syrian Kurds were not our partners/allies in the traditional sense people. They were a paid mercenary force. Paid very well I might add. The Syrian Kurds knew exactly what they signed up for. They were hoping to fill the void left after they helped us defeat ISIS and destroy their caliphate. They hoped to establish the ISIS territory for themselves and establish a Kurdish state.
This is something the Turks are vehemently against. It is why the Turks and the Syrian Kurds have been fighting each other for many many decades.
The people hammering our president are well aware fo this fact. They omit it to bash this president at every opportunity.
If I wanted to hear what he thought I’d ask his mistress.
I don't understand how people became so obsessed with the Syrian Kurds being such heroes that it was the Holy Duty of the USA to be the guarantor of Rojava. Reuniting with Syria, with some level of regional autonomy and authority well short of an independent nation state, is the best realistic outcome the SYRIAN Kurds could possibly have realized.
Well....
The Kurds fought ISIS in their own lands, and fought them well.
And also in arab areas. Where the defenders ran away.
They deserve credit.
Doesn’t mean they deserve to keep those arab areas though.
