My soldier’s heart goes out to the families of these dead and injured heroes. I pray God will give them the strength and courage to face these terrible days ahead. Thanks be to every young American who wears our uniforms, whether it be military or first responder.

Being a treadhead, (tanker), if have a few stories about troops getting killed around tanks, including one tank firing upon another while waiting at a railhead.

Merciful Maude.
Those ‘fire’ mechanisms aren’t that touchy, are they??

May God hold them in His bosom.
Rest, faithful servants.
Condolences to the families. May they find peace and solace in some manner.

Not really. But if you've just come back from live-fire training, and people don't do their jobs and empty out the ammo feeds, then don't properly stow everything, you can get a situation where a single finger or foot in the wrong place can fire some rounds. It's just like a car - it takes several steps to start driving. But if the last driver left the keys in and engine running with no e-brake, then all it takes is moving the shifter to get the car rolling.
As to his story on the railhead, that is surprising. For Guard at least, anything going on rail or line-haul is completely stripped of sensitive items, and definitely wouldn't have ammo in it, much less loaded.

Ah...it was on purpose. Supposedly an argument between TC’s over the ownership of a 15/16 socket.

Keeping America free is dangerous work, even in peace time. And it’s next to impossible to practice killing people and breaking stuff without hurting some of your own (especially when you’re on a budget).

I used to be a JAG in the Army. If training accidents happen, someone effed up.

From what I know, all three were with 2/7 CAV.
The vehicle went off the edge of a bridge flipped over and the three who were killed drowned.

As long as you have people involved, you’ll have screw ups. May be lack of training, it may be lack of common sense.
