Slavery exists wherever Islam exists, and that includes the United States.
To rid the world of slavery, you must first rid the world of Islam.

It’s shariaa compliant! What’s the problem? Ya an islamophobe? They have a constitutional protection to have slaves!

The same harsh conditions which Vietnamese have endured have also been reported by the Filipino, Indonesian, and Sri Lankan workers, in Saudi Arabia.

When you come to Saudi Arabia long-term, you surrender your passport for an iqama, basically a residence permit akin to a green card. Your employer holds your passport. So in effect a lot of these domestics are held prisoner. You cannot leave without that passport, unless you can swim the Red Sea or cross the desert into Oman. They don't pay you? Whom are you going to complain to? The head of the house is having his way with you? Who is going to care? You are - in their eyes - a lowly infidel and of no consequence. Additionally, as a foreigner you are always going to be in the wrong. There is a distinct pecking order of foreigners sure - Americans, Canadians, and Europeans are at the top, with Third Worlders like Vietnamese and Sri Lankans at the bottom. But foreigners are foreigners.... I could go on and on....but it's caveat emptor when you go to such a country. Unless you have a strong company or sponsor behind you. Or even if you do...

De facto slavery exists in every oil-rich country in Arabia. They recruit quasi-literate brown people as manual laborers from Australasia and the Indian subcontinent under a contract that includes transportation at company expense but the moment they arrive the laborers' passports are seized and they're told they'll get them back -- along with an airline ticket home -- once the employer is satisfied they have fulfilled the terms of their contract. Then they're warehoused in communal apartments with bunk beds stacked like the berths in a submarine. And they're docked for a day's service (which extends the period of their contract) if they're out sick or if they aren't satisfactorily productive on any particular given day. And they don't receive their full pay -- only a small stipend -- until they're released to come home. Which prevents them accumulating finances sufficient to try to escape by alternate means to a neighboring Arab country.

Several laborers fell to their deaths in the construction of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest man-made structure. The building's exterior walls are slanted such that it's not possible to fall off without bouncing off the walls as you fall and some weren't missed until their desiccated bodies were discovered some weeks later on a lower ledge or balcony where it had come to rest.

It's the same in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, ... they recruit people whose economic situation prevents them being informed about what awaits them, then they keep them as virtual prisoner until they're satisfied they've got from them what they're due.

And they justify it by claiming the jibronies wouldn't be in this situation had Allah not willed it. Insh'Allah.
