Democrats now holding 'Soviet-style' impeachment hearings
The American Thinker ^ | October 17, 2019 | Monica Showalter

Secrecy has always been a pretty effective incubator for corruption, and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff's sneaky, secretive "hearings" on impeaching the president, literally held in a dank Capitol basement outside public scrutiny, are producing it in abundance.

Schiff's secrecy act thus far not only shuts out the public, but excludes relevant opposition members of Congress from so much as listening to this Schiff show. Congressmen from the "wrong" party, such as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, an interested party with a right to be there as a member of the House Judiciary Committee if anyone does, have just about literally been kicked out.

Now we have the ( reason for the secrecy from the Washington Examiner:)

"...In a secret interview, Rep. Adam Schiff, leader of the House Democratic effort to ( impeach President Trump), pressed former United States special representative to Ukraine (Kurt Volker) to testify that Ukrainian officials felt pressured to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden's son Hunter as a result of Trump withholding U.S. military aid to Ukraine.

Volker denied that was the case, noting that Ukrainian leaders did not even know the aid was being withheld and that they believed their relationship with the U.S. was moving along satisfactorily, without them having done anything Trump mentioned in his notorious (July 25 phone conversation) with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Schiff will face many charges and will find out what justice is and so will many of his partners in crime.

Freisler, who was a Bolshevik (Hitler always referred to him as ‘that old Bolshevik!’), before he joined the Nazis, based his show trials on Andrei Vyshinsky, who headed the Stalinist purge trials in the 1930s.

“”have just about literally been kicked out.””

I don’t know about Biggs but Matt Gaetz (FL) was told to leave this week...

Why on earth don’t the Republicans DEMAND that if there is going to be any inquiry/investigation/whatever regarding evidence for impeachment that it be handled by the Judiciary Committee where it should be? What is so doggone difficult about following the rules?

Why on earth are they sitting by and watching this debacle play out? Put piglosi on the spot and make her do her job properly. Shiftty has no business handling anything to do with this and she knows it. McCarthy could put a stop to it if he’d get up on the floor of the House and demand if it’s going to be done, that it be done in the right committee!

They can all go on strike just like state legislators have done - leave town until this is done according to Hoyle - and yes, while they’re at it, they could even play cards in the basement of the Capitol. Just refuse to show up - their constituents would back them 100%

repubs should walk out of committee till the house votes to sit an impeachment committee with subpoena powers for both sides, Trump to face accusers, and public hearings.

Instead Repubs go alining like sheep to the inevitable conclusion.

If you want a good laugh, check out this 2006 Chicago Tribune Bush-bashing fest entitled “Secrecy is the enemy of Democracy”:

Leftists hate secrecy, except when they love it!

If the Democrats refuse to play by the rules, then there are no rules.

The Republicans should be violating every House rule every minute until this farce is over.

This is not a time to be polite.

There has got to be something ILLEGAL about what Schiff is doing.

AND IF THERE ISN’T...THERE SHOULD BE.

Is there a Justice Department around anywhere where we could look for some kind of JUSTICE??

It’s NOT an Impeachment- It is an Inquisition-

Generally, the Inquisition is concerned only with the heretical behaviour of Republican Presidents or their appointees.

“The overwhelming majority of sentences seem to consist of penances like wearing a cross sewn on one’s clothes, going on pilgrimage, etc.” When a suspect is convicted of High Crimes or unrepentant heresy, the inquisitorial tribunal is required by law to hand the person over to the secular authorities for final sentencing, at which point a magistrate shall determine the penalty, which is usually burning at the stake although the penalty varies based on local law. The laws are inclusive of proscriptions against certain high crimes (heresy, etc.), and the punishments include death by burning, although usually the penalty is banishment or imprisonment for life, which might be generally commuted after a few years. Thus the inquisitors generally know what is the fate of anyone so remanded, and cannot be considered to have divorced the means of determining guilt from its effects.
