Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney acknowledged that he held up $390 million in security aide for Ukraine in order to pressure the country into pursuing a 2016 election probe being demanded by President Trump.
Trump and top administration officials have vigorously denied any 'quid pro quo' with Ukraine following a whistleblower's report that the White House was demanding a probe of the Bidens as well as Trump's conspiracy theory that the DNC server might be in Ukraine's possession.
In a rare White House briefing, Mulvaney denied any knowledge of a company linked to Hunter Biden but said the money was in fact dangled to push what he called anti- 'corruption' efforts by Ukraine.

So this was about Hillary’s server emails? Then it is about upholding the Congressional subpoena for those emails. That is a whole lot different than the Biden thing.
These folks hear what they want to hear. And then fill in around it with bullshit.
If you are not reading from source documents, in their entirety, you are being lied to. Period.
I dont trust anyone to tell me the truth these days.
So what am I going to do if it was not a “quid”?
I think you’re the one that needs to get a grip.
You should read my post again, and determine what it actually says, and not what you think it says or implies.
This story is being intentionally scrambled and confused to create the illusion of something illicit on the part of the President. It is important to understand the timelines of when people talked to the Ukrainians and why.
Rudy Giuliani was asked in 2018 long before any of these meetings took place to receive evidence from Ukrainian officials related to the Steele dossier and the conspiracy to corrupt the 2016 election by the DNC and foreign officials. The evidence had been known by the Ukrainians since before the election but they had been blocked by the FBI and State Department from presenting to US legal authorities. Giuliani was representing Trump and establishing a defense in anticipation of the Muellar report’s release. Included in this evidence was the actions by VP Biden to have the prosecutor fired that was investigating his son’s company, Burisma. This was well before Biden announced his candidacy for President in April 2019.
Trump was aware of what Giuliani had recovered and wanted it to be handled appropriately by AG Barr’s justice department.
The phone call with Zelensky was to confirm that this is what would happen as part of Ukraine’s own ongoing investigations. The Burisma investigation into the Bidens had been reopened long before Trump’s phone call so there was nothing for him to ask the Ukrainians to do that they hadn’t already started on their own.
The bottom line is that the President and Zelesky agreed there was nothing that Trump was asking for but cooperation between the Ukraine and US in getting to the bottom of the rampant corruption that had devastated them under the Obama administration. This is the duty of the President and did not involve campaign finance violations or quid pro quo bribery since Ukraine was already acting on their own in these investigations.
Isn't that the exact reason Quid Pro Joe used to justify getting the Ukrainian prosecutor fired? Because he was corrupt?
So it wasn’t a quid pro quo to get rid of presidential candidate Biden but a carrot and a stick forcing Ukraine to investigate their own corruption. Got it.
So, President Trump held up the money, never told the Ukraine, then made the phone call and used the holding of the money, the Ukraine was still unaware of even after the phone call, as incentive to get the Ukraine to do his bidding.
Did I get that right?
