One watches these Democratic debates with the same core question in mind: Can any of these candidatesBiden, Warren, Sanders, Buttigieg, Harris or the seven otherstake down Donald Trump? Are any capable of going one-on-one for three months next fall with the greatest mixed-martial-arts fighter in presidential history?
This weeks debate took place about a year from the main event, so lets cut to the question of the moment: Is Joe Biden going to make it? In my opinion, no. Based on his performance in Westerville, Ohio, Mr. Biden is not going to make it.
To be clear, the issue here isnt whether Mr. Biden or any of the others can win the Democratic presidential nomination. Its whether that nominee can compete with Donald Trump. Can he stand on a stage in the presidential debates and not get beaten by the president into something small by comparison? For all the immeasurable hours spent now on politicking, the presidential debates have become the main event.
The 1960 debate set the template for these make-or-break contests. An upstart Massachusetts senator named John F. Kennedy won on points against Dwight Eisenhowers vice president, Richard Nixon. As skilled a political talker as ever existed, Nixon never quite recovered from that debate performance.
Yes, we know, Chicagos Mayor Richard J. Daley stole the election for JFK, but if Nixon had defeated the untested Massachusetts senator in that first significant televised debate, hed have been president in 1961.
We learned during the Republican primary debates in 2016 that Donald Trump is capable of fighting in ways that would get him disqualified from an organized cage match. The fact remains that the Democratic Party and the media, beginning with their Russian collusion narrative and all the rest, have let Donald Trump practice and hone his fighting skills.

Biden is running out of cash. Spend more last quarter than took in. Has only $8.9 million on hand.
He has brain cells? That is news to me.
that’s one way to bow out of the race
maybe it’s just random electrical impulse
‘Honor’ isn’t even a concept in their liberal dogma, much less a word in their Newspeak language.
“When, and why, did you read Drudge?”
From the early 2000’s to around 2012 Drudge was my go-to site. I visited Drudge hourly. I say that without regret.
NO MORE!
Now, I visit MAYBE twice a year, and ONLY because my phone still sends me Drudge notifications, so when Prince died or David Bowie died, I hasten to his site, I capture the image and move on.
For news — Drudge now disappoints and it appears that someone has something on him that keeps him NOT cutting-edge AND appearing to be compromised...
I loved his old radio show, and couldn’t wait for Sunday nights.
The question is who will be next to succumb to heart disease?
I’ll be interesting to see who the moderators will be. They will more than likely frame their questions to defame Trump.
Yep - I had it in my mind he would drop out by Thanksgiving and cite wanting to spend time with his family...he’s just more proof that you can’t fix stupid.
Even the magic negro was against this happening.
“JOe, You don’t have to do this.”
