It will be another four and a half months before Republican voters in Alabama select a GOP nominee to face incumbent Sen. Doug Jones (D-AL) in the Nov. 3, 2020 general election.
However, there could be a familiar face among the list of candidates on the ballot.
In recent days, there has been rampant speculation that former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions could enter the contest for his old seat. Sessions held the seat currently occupied by Jones from 1997 through 2017. He gave up that seat to serve in the Trump administration until his unceremonious exit in late 2018.
If Sessions were to enter the race for the Republican Party’s nomination, he would be joining a crowded field that includes former Auburn University head football coach Tommy Tuberville, U.S. Rep. Bradley Byrne (R-AL), Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, State Rep. Arnold Mooney (R) and former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore.

Don’t these people ever just want to retire and enjoy life? Good grief, they never go away. Hillary will live to be 200. God is good to these people for some reason.

I think most all these comments fail to address the real questions. That is, will the Republican voters of Alabama vote based on Sessions two plus years as AG, or his twenty years as a senator?
And a lot would depend on how the other candidates come across once the campaign is really under way, if Sessions chooses run.
Id rather vote for a Democrat.

Jeff Sessions has done grevious harm to President Trump and to the country. He should be treated as if he is a communicable disease and never let near anything of importance again.

Who’s the best candidate?
I participated in a lengthy survey just over a week ago that was obviously an effort to determine the appetite for a Jeff Sessions candidacy.
Considering Trump has said multiple times that appointing Jeff Sessions is his one regret; I don’t think Trump has anything good to say about Sessions. Sessions; the back stabber AG.
The man should have NEVER..been chosen for the AG spot.
He had a history of failures in the litigation spot.
That choice took away one GOP spot that was firm.
I'd rather rosenweasels rip my flesh.
