You have incorrectly stated the situation. PG&E did not decide not to adress the real problem.
As a matter of fact by shutting off the power to revent frivelous lawsuits against which the company had no defense it precisely addressed the problem. California cannot have the cake and eat it too. PG&E effectively ended the eating in what amounts more than justifiable self defense.
It is the now powerless customers who are ultimately at fault for having their own power shut off. Since they have no power, let them eat no cake

Maybe these folks in California need to take a look at some other forested areas where fires are not a big problem & see what they are doing.
they know what is not being done in the PG&E Areas, not cutting branches back from power lines.

When we get a fire it runs very hot and fast through forests because they are packed with dead dried limbs and underbrush, which environmentalist asked the state to not clear because riot is a”natural process.”

Just remember that gas stations use electricity to pump the gas to your car. A long enough grid outage and you wont be able to fill up your car either.
